“Poor Service”

1.Half -board was a big mistake as the evening meal, the food was always over cooked and never hot. Local restaurants are superb, and cost UK prices.
2.Room - Superior is of good size, but only single beds. We were offered smaller standard room, with no view.
3.Room very clean but basic. Good quality beds. The shower is a bath shower, off bath taps. TV is a 14” old TV, only basic Croatian TV, plus BBC World service.
4.Room AC is not AC, just blown air. Controls indicate you can lower the temperature to 21, but only air flow increases.
5.Wi-Fi is not included but is Pay as you Use, at KR 0.3 per Mb soon adds up.
6.Gym is not included or run by hotel, and charged by a separate company. £3 per day extra.
7.Overall the hotel is excellently situated, with excellent views of the old town from pool side rooms. Hotel & pool cleanliness is excellent, but the staff services a bit lacking in enthusiasm.

Room Tip: Superior Rooms have excellent views over the bay, but don't expect luxury. Only single beds in t...

“So-so property”

Despite being on a quaint and fabulous island, this hotel doesn't add anymore to your experience of being in Korcula. The lobby and the rooms seem outdated. There is, however, a lovely terrace next to the lobby, where a couple of small pools sit - from there, you get a great view of Korcula town (going to Korcula town is about a 10 minute walk).

I used the indoor pool, which is pretty good sized. There are a couple of pillars in it, so it's a bit inconvenient to do straight laps. What was even more inconvenient was that you had to get the towels from the reception area, so you had to go back upstairs and wait in line. The towels should just be offered downstairs with the wellness center staff.

The breakfast buffet was a decent spread.

“The low-light of our Croation holiday !”

A drab, Soviet-style 70s inspired hotel that fails to deliver on all levels. Dour staff, depressing decor, cafeteria-style breakfast... I realise that this hotel was the cheapest we stayed in during our trip, so expectations need to be tempered accordingly, but it really wasn't even good value at half the price we paid. We couldn't get out of there quick enough... ! Thank goodness Korcula is such a beautiful town ... and I have to say that some of the best food we ate in Croatia can be found at the Restaurant on the Marina (on the way one walks from the hotel to the old town).

“A good place to stay”

Korcula is a tough place to plan for as there are so many bad places! It is important to stay in Korcula town and Hotel Korstal is probably the better hotel but if like me you wanted to pay a lower rate then the Marko Polo is a good option.

It's an easy walk to the Old Town, which is glorious, and has a good swimming area closeby.

The rooms are comfortable although a little tired and my room needed some minor repairs to the wall. However I was very happy with it and would say it is a good 3 star hotel.

The downsides are the breakfast was poor and there is a an occasional smell of sewage in the bathrooms caused by the ancient drainage systems on the island. This is occasional and not a deal breaker but worth knowing before you book.

Don't be put off by the poor reviews of accomodation on Korcula(which I nearly was), it was my favourite place to stay and the Marko Polo was a good option in a great location. They also gave me a breakfast pack when I left early one morning and the service was very helpful.

Hire a bike and go to Lumbarda for the day also, which is lovely.

“Very good place to relax in Korcula”

Poshly perched on a hill overlooking Korcula town and bay, location of the Marco Polo is great (it’s about a 10 minute walk from town). Reviews are mixed about the hotel, but we were pleasantly surprised. Very friendly and efficient reception, and we’d booked a (cheaper) garden view room but got one facing the water (amazing views on the old town in the setting sun). The room was well equipped and in good shape (apparently they renovated a few years ago), so no complaints. Apparently all guests have half board, which is always dicey. Food was good, though, especially in the evening. Breakfast was a bit limiting – mostly basic items (2-3 star type quality). Dinner was quite variable, and they still do some partial restocking of the buffet until close to 21:00 (closing time). Overall it was better than we expected, and a recommendable choice in Kocula.

We found Kocula to be a nice break for a few days from going from Dubrovnik (by bus) on to Split (by Krilo jet ferry from Korcula) – transport works very nicely for this combination.

Room Tip: the ones facing the water have a really nice view, though some are partly obstructed by other buildi...
