This hotel is an old hotel, quite large and a little was out from the centre, however, the beds were comfortable, the choice of food plenty, the hotel staff were friendly and helpful. Overall it was clean and tidy but a little dated. Korcula itself is a fairytale place almost unreal having been there now it is easy to fly to Split where a high speed catermaran leaves for Korcula town at 5.0pm for £7 each way, bargain for a 2 1/2 hr trip; make sure you travel on the catermaran as a normal car ferry goes at the same time but it goes to the other end of the island some 60 miles away. The ferry calls at the island of Hvar on the way so a two centre holiday 3/4 days in each is easy to arrange. Not a lot of activities foir the evening but a hassle free relaxing holiday destination.

My wife and I spent 2 night here on our honeymoon. We were really disappointed with what we got. The location itself is lovely, a beautiful island and the hotel is tucked away 10 mins walk from the beautiful town centre on a nice bit of coast. As soon as you enter the hotel first impressions are how stuck in the past it is. It was obviously quite a grand hotel, but has clearly not been decorated in the last 30 years.

Rooms are very dated and ours had a very old-fashioned bathroom with peach bath suite. The bed was probably the worst aspect of the hotel - a ridiculously soft mattress with pillows like a sack of potatoes leading to 2 bad night's sleep.

The staff seemed average - did what we asked of them but certainly nobody around helped with bags or anything like that. We had breakfast included which was pretty poor - a reasonable selection of fairly average food.

I think overall I would consider this hotel a low point of our Croatia honeymoon and not at all worth the £100 per night we spent on it. It is clearly a hit with the older generation though as the hotel was swamped with pensioners

If the previous reviewer expected a small boutique hotel I can understand the disappointment. The Liburna is a medium-sized concrete building from the later Communist era. However, it does have strong points. It's located an easy 10 minute stroll from Korcula old town, and the view across the bay is outstanding. The food is not gourmet, but there is a good choice - at least for non-vegetarians - and certainly enough variety for a week. The rooms do need renovating, but are at least a decent size, and many also have good views. I did not mind the lack of air conditioning as there is usually a breeze to take the edge of the heat.

We booked this hotel through one of the top online booking sites which shall remain nameless. I don't know the last time they vetted this property, but they should NOT be selling this in the US market. We are experienced travelers (one of us is an airline employee) and have stayed at small European properties all over Europe. This one was dirty, dingy, stained carpets and bedding - disgusting. Do NOT book this hotel. We wound up leaving at 9:00 at night, and going down the street to the Hotel Korsal, which I will review here. It was like going from 0 to 100 in 3 seconds. Beautiful, and barely a cost difference.
