“Good hotel in good location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 August 2007

We stayed here in June as the start of an island hopping holiday in Croatia. We found the rooms small but clean and had all the facilities we needed.
The location was superb and very handy for the bus station and ferry port.
Breakfast was good.
My only criticism was dinner. It was expensive and not very good. Eat in one of the many Pizzeria's around they are much better value for money.
There isn't much to do in Split, one full day sight seeing is enough. The remains of Diocletian's palace is unique and worth a visit.
On the whole a good hotel and I would stay here again if I wanted a hotel in Split.

“Just what we wanted”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 August 2007

We came to this hotel with some trepidation, having read an earlier Trip Advisor review. It could hardly have been more different!
As all the reviews have said, the location is brilliant, facing the port, beside Diocletian's Palace and close to the buses and ferries. Our room overlooked the harbour and had air-conditioning, double-glazing and shutters which kept out any noise from promenaders on the quayside. The walls were white with equally pristine white bed-linen. It wasn't large but then we were not planning to spend long periods in our room.
The rooms are over the bar and restaurant which we found very good for the freshly cooked breakfast. We also ate in the restaurant in the evenings which served most of the standard Croatian specialities as well as pizza, etc.
We used this as a base for 3 nights and it was just what we wanted. Croatia in mid-summer isn't cheap but we found it value for money. As another review mentions, service can be a little curt in this part of the world but it is what was delivered that counted and we were very pleased with that.

“Good base for arriving in Split”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 July 2007

We stayed at the Adriana for one night prior to heading off island hopping along the Dalmatian Coast. I think if you accept the Hotel for what it is and set your expectations accordingly its more than adequate as a base for one or two nights. The location is fantastic, and yes the rooms are a little tired and basic - however bare in mind
that the hotel stock across Split in general is rather poor. We were realistic in what the Hotel would probably offer and since it met all
our requirements; air conditioning, reasonable accommodation, proximity to the old town/city centre and decent price (why pay a fortune if you're only staying a night?) the Adriana did not dissappoint. Yes the hotel staff can appear a little abrupt, but anyone who has spent time in a Slavic country will know that it is more to do with the culture and style of communication that is prevalent. I would have no problem staying there again as I disagree with some of the reviews posted here.

“Rooms are bad, service is worse”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 May 2007

This “hotel” (that makes it sound better than it is) is over a terribly smoky restaurant, so checking in requires stinking up yourself and all of your belongings before even cramming into the tiny elevator and making it up to your room. It only gets worse from there. The rooms are horribly dingy, with worn carpet, stained window treatments, and walls you want to avoid touching. Trying to sleep in the bed left me feeling dirty, plus it’s not comfortable and there’s not even a comforter to make it look like a decent place to sleep. On the “service” (that’s nonexistent) front, my friend and I were sent to a room that had one double bed. When I went back down to the desk and explained that I had requested a room with 2 twin beds, the obnoxious person told me at the desk told me that I’d need to pay 40 kuna more. Although I had e-mail confirmation of the room I requested being the initial price, this worker and another refused to budge. It seems ridiculous that they were more concerned with making so little (less than 8 USD) extra money than with honoring their word, achieving customer satisfaction, and gaining future business. The hotel options in Split are limited, but doing this small city as a day trip would be better than staying at Hotel Adriana. Half of what we paid would have been too much for this unprofessional dump.
