“Hotel with character.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 June 2011

The Falkensteiner Hotel Therapia is an imposing, striking building which sits on the hill overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. The Hotel was built in 1895 & still houses an old fashioned ambiance. Overall' a lovely classical historical hotel which has heaps of character & style.

The hotel is not close to town a car is required if staying at this hotel.

Check in - All went accordingly to plan with no hiccups except trying to find the hotel. There were limited signs around the town, we had to stop & ask the locals.

Room - Our room 102 was a spacious suite which consisted on a separate lounge room & bedroom. Internet was free with a fast connection. Other rooms we saw looked small compared to ours

Unfortunately not having a sea view room we had a street view room which created a problem with the street lights; so hence we had a bad nights sleep. Seaview rooms would be the best option at this hotel.

Restaurant - We had half board dinner included which consisted of buffet entree & a choice for main from the menu. The setting was stunning overlooking the sea on the outdoor terrace. Luckily; the hotel also supplied New Zealand Sav Blanc wine which is our favourite.

Breakfast - We arrived for breakfast at 9.40am & there was hardly any hot food left. We had to ask for extra hot food to be cooked. Apart from the lack of hot food available the selection was varied & good.

Staff - All seemed very friendly & helpful.

Facilities - free outdoor parking, The outdoor swimming pool is lovely which overlooks the with stunning views of the sea. The gardens surrounding the hotel are highly impressive. There is no private beach one has to use the public beach.

“Great rooms location with potential to live up to the legacy”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 June 2011

A great hotel with the feeling of the Austrian empire to it. Nice rooms with excellent view and great comfort to it. On the down side: the room service has room to improve as they just hung wet towels that were on the floor to be replaced, didn't replace or take away used glasses or empty trashcans. Upside extremely child friendly staff in all areas! Good buffet!

“Beatiful hotel, great views”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 August 2010

Plus:

- The hotel is simply beautiful, located on the high part of town; it offers stunning views of the island of Krk and the beautiful mediterranean landscape. You can see they pay a special attention to the cleanliness of the entire structure.
- Our junior suite was beautiful and clean, very comfy bed, air conditioning OK (when we arrived didn't work, but they fixed it in minutes) Alhough the hotel was full, you could hardly hear any noise when in room.
- Great terrace bar, beautiful views and very good cocktails!
- Very good and wide choice at breakfast buffet, with indoor/oudoor seating
- The dinner consisted in a main dish to order, and salads, cheese, entrees and desserts in buffet style. We appreciated the food, although the variety at buffet did not change too much during the four days we spent there
- The spa is not big, but good enough as probably the most of hotel guests choose other activities. There is an hammam and a finnish sauna (both pretty small) and a Jacuzzi for 4 people. The indoor swimming pool is fascinating and very quiet.
- Service is attentive and happy-to-help, but not all of the staff share this attitude.
- High speed LAN internet connection available for free in the room.

Minus:

- The hotel has no private beach, if you want to stay by the seaside, you gotta go to the public beach. Access is not free, so take your tickets at reception. Deckchairs and beach umbrella are available at a fee.
- Restaurant service can be slow and is a point of improvement. Since there are no free drinks at the restaurant (even water), and if you want to order something, you need to wait for the waiter. And the wait can be long. Not all of the staff is English or Italian speaking.
- Parking may be tricky, especially when it’s packed and you need to park on the sidewalk by the trees.
- When we arrived to the room, we realized that aircon panel missed the temperature knob (fixed in minutes, very quick repair) and the washbasin was cracked. That’s not what you expect to find in a suite.
- The swimming pool area is very nice but tiny and you need to be an early bird if you want to catch a couple of deckchairs

In general, we enjoyed a lot the four days spent there. None of the remarks was enough to spoil the vacation, while the pluses of the hotel are very good. We won’t forget the views at sunset, sipping our aperitifs in an elegant and relaxing atmosphere.

“Great Hotel - Nothing else in Crikvenicia”

Hotel great for relaxation and time out. Clean, great service and high quality rooms. The breakfast was good and the evening meals were supurb. Need to be up early to reserve a sun lounger. Pool is fine but a little small for anything more than cooling down.
Beach open to the pupil is only 100 yards away.
Nothing really to do in Crikvenica so avoid if you don't have a car.

We are first time in Croazia and are very happy about everything in the hotel. Food was great, all employees freindly. Beach is not of hotel but very close, maybe 50 m so it is nice that hotel is private, has beautiful swiming pool and beautiful park. Also mention the building is amazing, feels very romantic!. We will come again!
