I travelled with my brother and sister-in-law during December 2011.

The hotel was situated inside the fortress of the Old Town of Dali, with breathtaking decoration and structure. Different from Lijiang, vehicles are allowed to enter into the Old Town. The surrounding of the hotel was very clean. The best part was it has Wifi with strong signal throughout the hotel and also had very hot water for shower, something that we took it for granted in our country.

Even though the structure of the building looks like the ancient palace, but you would be surprised by the modern equipments like having an inverter system so you don't have to worry about the cold. It has a glass wall shower area, very western style but the best part was it has instant hot water. After staying in different hotels in China, not all hotels outside the city can maintain this standard.

The location was very close to the market place, just cross the road, too convenience. The price of the room also comes with breakfast, make sure you ask for it as it was not advertised on their webpage. Also make sure you print out the booking slip before your travel as initially the receptionist told us that they couldn't find our booking. Luckily we had the printout with us.
