“Warning DO NOT STAY HERE!!!! DUMP is a Compliment To This Place!”

What a dump. I did not believe the reviews and as I paid for it thru Hotwire.com I went ahead and stayed here. I would recommend you call Hotwire and complain if you get this place. If they won't do anything for you I would recommend sleeping in your car or maybe find a homeless person and share his or her cardboard box. FILTHY doesn't begin to describe this dump. Sheet had a cigarrete burn in it.

“Very, Very Old Photos Not Reflection”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 January 2012

The only reason we picked Rime was because our daughter had a new puppy and no hotels will allow pets in Birmingham. This "hotel" is really a very old apartment complex that is renting out a few "condos" they have had empty for years.

The heat would not go on and we could see our breath it was so cold in the room; finally, after having a repair man come out. We finally demanded another room and moved, exhausted, at 10:30 pm. Sounds like fun, huh?

Carpeting was old and buckled, bathrooms had yellowed towels. Nobody was at the front desk when I arrived to get a key; only one person was on site and she was in the bathroom. The "kitchen" had not one plate or glass in it. The television is old fashioned tube type... remote, of course, didn't work.

I had to sign a piece of paper I would not "party" in the room and destroy property, which I found highly unlikely given the ancient state of the room. I cannot imagine anyone having a banquet or conference at this location and I didn't eat a thing while there; it wasn't clean enough for me!

All in all, this place presents itself online as a lovely banquet hall and hotel. The five star reviews are clearly being written by those who work there. Fool me one, but never again!

Thank you for your review, as we appreciate all feedback, otherwise we would not know, nor would we be able to fix any issues presented by our guests. On your next stay with us, please do visit the Magnolia Grille. Our restaurant staff would love to show you the best in Southern Hospitality. The restaurant was closed for New Year's during your stay; hence the reason our kitchenware and cutlery was put up.
If you have any concerns in the future, please contact the front desk and we will resolve them immediately. Thank you again for taking the time to write a review, as we do appreciate the feedback and look forward to speaking with you soon.

“Magic City Classic”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 November 2011

My friends and I have been using the Rime Garden Inn & Suites as our home during the annual Magic City Classic held in Birmingham, Alabama in October. We have enjoyed our stays at the Rime Garden and have been satisfied with the accommodations and service. We also enjoy the breakfast buffet served each morning.
The size of the suites, two separate rooms, is perfect for entertaining friends before and after the game.
We will continue to use Rime Garden Inn during this event and know that we will be treated like family

“We had a great experience!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 November 2011

My husband and I were traveling to the Talledega race on Oct. 21-23rd and we stayed here. The lobby was nice and all the employees were friendly and helpful. Our suite was very clean and comfortable. My husband's favorite part was the free breakfast in the mornings. If we ever pass through again, we will definitely stay at the Rime agian!!

“Wont make this mistake again!”

Expedia referred it so booked into the Rime Garden on the evening of Thursday, October 20th and should have ran when I drove up that dark hill. The lobby was warm, friendly, well lit, and the staff member was helpful. Was told I was going to go to Building 2, through the parking gate. Again, there is where I should have ran. Got through the gate and drove up the very dark, DARK, hill around the other buildings to Building #2. Parking lot was very dark and it was just a scarey place. Got the room door open and still do not know why I went into the room. It was an old, outdated, smelly, 1970s setting with sparce furniture and bare walls. The air conditioning closet had rat sticky boards in the floor and a big hole in the wall I guess to just invite the critters in. The bedroom was again dark and furnished by the decorators of a very poor college quality apartment complex. The bathroom was just that, had its share of mold in the corners and when the guys upstairs were smoking in there room the smoke smell was coming into the bathroom through the air vent. No soap, no amenities AT ALL. In short that was $90 wasted on a bed that was not even comfortable. Thank God it was just one night.

Room Tip: Go to another hotel, not here.

The room you stayed in was renovated this year. We installed new carpet, wall coverings, furniture, and draperies; there are 3 pieces of artwork in both the living room and bedroom. Additionally, all of our suites come fully furnished with a couch, armchair, and dining room table/chairs in the living area as well as a dresser, desk, and chair in the bedroom. The soap and shampoo are provided in the in-room dispensers inside the shower and at the vanity area. The issues raised in the utility closet have been repaired. The outside lighting issues you mentioned have also been addressed--thank you for passing that along to us. If you have any concerns in the future, please contact the front desk and we will resolve them immediately. Thank you again for taking the time to write a review, as we do appreciate the feedback and look forward to speaking with you soon.
