The say that these pictures are mis-leading is an understatement. It'd be more fair to say that they lie. And the staff - unfriendly. This is the email that I sent to Days Inn....

I am very disappointed in this hotel. It was disgusting, and the staff mostly responded to me with rudeness and annoyance. At first I just assumed that it was a "Birmingham thing". But that was not the case, as the rest of my experiences with the people of Birmingham, did not meet with such rudeness. In fact, the rest of the people of Birmingham were wonderful. On the day that I was supposed to check out, my "do not disturb" sign must have blown off - very likely considering the fierce storm that lasted overnight. I was awakened by housekeeping staff. I stated that I wasn't ready for housekeeping, but 30 minutes before check-out there was another knock at my door. Sabrina was at the door - the annoyance very apparent on her face. I explained that I wasn't ready to check out. She rudely asked when I will be ready. I told her that I will check out by the required time and that I still have a half hour. She rolled her eyes at me and just walked off. So, I asked her what her name was before she disappeared around the corner.
The front desk staff was no better. When I asked if their was a snack vending machine, the man at the desk, looked up for not even half a second, just looked back down at his desk and THEN said annoyingly "no snack machine". If I'm gonna pay almost $50/night, atleast he could do a better job of acknowledging me, and maybe even offer up some suggestions. I stayed at a Windgate by Wyndam hotel in Norcross, GA the preceding 4 nights for only $57 per night and the standards were much higher. It was extremely clean, the staff was very nice – GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE and the housekeeping was awesome. If that hotel charged me an average of $50/night, then this hotel shouldn’t have charged me more than $40.

My Fiance took his mother and father up to Birmingham for his fathers open heart surgery at UAB. When they arrived they began to feel unsafe. They went to the store where they had people yelling and coming toward them in the parking lot. They quickly left and went to another store where the clerks were behind bullet proof glass. This is when they realized the type of neighborhood they were in. When they went to bed everything was ok. However, at about 3 a.m. my fiance woke up and went outside to smoke in hopes not to wake anyone when he realized our Chevrolet Tahoe had been broken into. Someone had used a tool and pryed the metal off of the door on the outside and used something to hit the unlock switch from the outside to keep the alarm from going off. Everything we had was stolen. The cops were called yet nothing was really done as if this was normal routine for them. When this was addressed with this property at time of check out they wanted to know what they were supposed to do about it. Just so you know in the state of Alabama its a law that hotels are to cover up to 5000.00 for death damages etc. As a travel agent myself I felt compelled to share my story. Don't be misled by the pricing. Safety is key when travelling to an unknown place. Protect yourself and your families. Stay away from here. Its in an area where crack heads dwell. You will find most of the properties located in Birmingham have the same or similar reviews.

In the three nights that i stayed my room was never cleaned, i had to go ask for more toilet paper. Breakfast only catered for those who wanted to load up on sugar, no fruit or healthy options available. Young man who worked the afternoon shift was helpful and polite cannot say the same for the lady who worked the morning shift, she had a unresponsive attitude. This hotel is fine for a place to get a cheap nap, as with all days inn dont expect much else.

DO NOT trust the pictures of this property. What is not shown is there are scary gates surrounding the property (for obvious reasons), not to mention even scarier housing around the property with random people walking. This is located off Arkadelphia Road and ask a local this is not a safe part of town (which we found out too late). My husband constantly feared his car was going to get broken into.

We chose this hotel since there was an outdoor pool and they allowed dogs, and I wish I would have given up my requirement for an outdoor pool (which was not the cleanest).

Spend a little more money ($10-$20), do your research and stay somewhere safer.
