I had surgery in bham and decided to stay here 1 night to avoid a long drive back to bham the next day for my return visit.
This hotel looked a little bit tired but not too bad. My husband told the front desk that I had just had surgery and needed a handicap room. They had non available but plenty of others on the bottom floor. This was okay with us. Upon entering the room it was dated colors kind of faded looking and also tired with plush but stained carpet etc...but we thought it would do for one night.
As the evening progressed we continued to see more. Then the fun started....About 5:00 in the evening it sounded like we were staying under a bowling alley or skating rink. The amount of stomping and running was unbelievable. My sister who accompanied us finally about 8:00 bumped the ceiling to warn that we would like for them to settle down. We later had a man confront my husband and tell him not to do that again that we could have damaged the ceiling and that he and his family with 4 children lived full time above us. He was also the maintenance man and did not want to have to repair it if we tore it up.
They should NEVER rent this room to anyone with all of them upstairs!!! They never stopped!
We also had someone knock on our door at midnight and ask if we had a dollar. Not to mention that there were more than one unsavory looking characters hanging around in the lobby
My husband ask for a refund and we were told that we would have to contract the home office that they did not give refunds under any circumstances.
Had I not been so sick we would have checked out immediately but I was unable to travel any further and really did not have the extra money to go to another hotel after paying for this one.. Half the lights in the room did not work. Which I guess was a God send since when we saw the room in the daylight we were almost sick knowing we had slept there. The walls looked like they had been thrown up on and wiped at and the stains on the carpet looked like they may have been the same thing or even blood. Not to mention the roaches that were crawling in the bathroom that next morning. There was someones toenails between the beds on the floor.
We of course did not even think of eating the free continental breakfast and when we ask the front desk clerk if there was a shoney's or somewhere to get breakfast she said rudely NO nothing like that around here! As we left we saw the IHOP that was right across the street. Which I must say was one of the best I have eaten at!
I did not even bring my luggage in when we got home. I emptied it outside and took it immediately to the wash and made sure there were not any bugs in my suitcases.
All in All I would say I give this place a F- or -0 rating.
