“crappy place filthy and afraid the entire time”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

I had surgery in bham and decided to stay here 1 night to avoid a long drive back to bham the next day for my return visit.
This hotel looked a little bit tired but not too bad. My husband told the front desk that I had just had surgery and needed a handicap room. They had non available but plenty of others on the bottom floor. This was okay with us. Upon entering the room it was dated colors kind of faded looking and also tired with plush but stained carpet etc...but we thought it would do for one night.
As the evening progressed we continued to see more. Then the fun started....About 5:00 in the evening it sounded like we were staying under a bowling alley or skating rink. The amount of stomping and running was unbelievable. My sister who accompanied us finally about 8:00 bumped the ceiling to warn that we would like for them to settle down. We later had a man confront my husband and tell him not to do that again that we could have damaged the ceiling and that he and his family with 4 children lived full time above us. He was also the maintenance man and did not want to have to repair it if we tore it up.
They should NEVER rent this room to anyone with all of them upstairs!!! They never stopped!
We also had someone knock on our door at midnight and ask if we had a dollar. Not to mention that there were more than one unsavory looking characters hanging around in the lobby
My husband ask for a refund and we were told that we would have to contract the home office that they did not give refunds under any circumstances.
Had I not been so sick we would have checked out immediately but I was unable to travel any further and really did not have the extra money to go to another hotel after paying for this one.. Half the lights in the room did not work. Which I guess was a God send since when we saw the room in the daylight we were almost sick knowing we had slept there. The walls looked like they had been thrown up on and wiped at and the stains on the carpet looked like they may have been the same thing or even blood. Not to mention the roaches that were crawling in the bathroom that next morning. There was someones toenails between the beds on the floor.
We of course did not even think of eating the free continental breakfast and when we ask the front desk clerk if there was a shoney's or somewhere to get breakfast she said rudely NO nothing like that around here! As we left we saw the IHOP that was right across the street. Which I must say was one of the best I have eaten at!
I did not even bring my luggage in when we got home. I emptied it outside and took it immediately to the wash and made sure there were not any bugs in my suitcases.
All in All I would say I give this place a F- or -0 rating.

“Water bugs ARE the same as cockroaches!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 July 2011

Checked into a $70 nite 2 queen bed Room. It was decent looking, somewhat rundown but the beds were ok. The biggest issue was the 2" bug the front desk called a "water bug" when i took it up to them and showed them. They chuckled, telling me they are everywhere, offered me a different room and teased me about not being from the South. Found 2 more of these "bugs" by morning! Continental breakfast was ok but ate only what could be cooked by me in fear of what I would find in food. Upon returning to room to make a fast departure, we saw several rats scurrying around!!! Of the ice machines only 1 of them worked on other side of hotel. Swimming pool was closed in July.
We checked on the Internet this morning at breakfast and a water bug is the same thing as a cockroach, just called a water bug in Alabama. Do not stay at this hotel - run!!!

Room Tip: Run from this hotel unless in hiding!!

“Roach Hotel”

We booked this hotel because it was relatively cheap and was close to where we planned on enjoying the Thanksgiving holiday. All we really needed the room for was to get a reasonably comfortable nights sleep. NOT!! As soon as we checked into the room there was a strong odor of air freshner used in a vail attempt to mask some other foul odor. The overall appearance of the room was shabby. The ceiling had some water damage that someone did a losy job in trying to repair. The carpet was very old. (we were affraid to take our shoes off) when I asked for extra pillows and sheets for the pull-out sofa bed the hotel clerk went into the back room and returned about 5 minutes later with unfolded sheets and 1 pillow. She said she could only find 1 pillow. My wife spotted a roach crawling around on the dresser that first night and that is when we decided to check out of this hotel. The hotel looks great on the outside, but when you look at the rooms, it's as if they overran thier budget before they made it to the rooms. There was hair in the sink and bathtub and the commode was kind of dirty as well. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

“Nasty Rooms”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 July 2007

We walked in off the street (no reservation) on our way back home to Georgia. The motels next door were booked so we tried it. The lady at the front desk was really nice and gave us they key to a room with 2 double beds. Things didn't turn bad until we went inside the room. The second we approached the door it was covered with reddish-purple stains (not sure what) and paint spackle stains. We still went in to look at what we'd just paid $65 for. It was awful. The room was dingy, dark and very dirty. The floor had obviously not been vaccuumed in months, if ever. Crumbs covered the nightstand. I pulled down the comforters to look at the sheets and almost vomited. One comforter had a huge urine stain on and the sheets/pillows to both beds were covered with hairs and stains of varying colors. Oh and 2 pubic hairs were on the telephone. It was late at night but I refused to stay there. Everything in Birmingham was full that night so we ended up driving a little outside town to Pell City where we were able to find nice, clean accomodations. But the Park Inn at the airport in Birmingham is disguisting. Do not recommend to anyone for any reason.

walked up to front desk and asked for a room with two double beds. The desk clerk was short with us from the start, but I was respectful. We made a deal and I was handed a key. Room was on the other side of the building. Walked in - King Size bed and a couch, no double beds. Went back, explained the situation, repeated request for 2 beds and was handed a new key, no apology. Drove back to the new room, what do you guys know ?, king size bed again. Went back to the front desk the clerk was not the least bit apologetic and offered no explanation, just looked at me. Ask for and got my money back and found a hotel about 1/2 mile away for twenty bucks less and it was nicer and I had my two beds on the first try.
