The place need new carpets and wireless internet connection, but for the price you can say it's a reasonable deal.

We stayed here recently while in town for a swim meet. We were staying on marriott points, and had never stayed at one of these hotels. It definately is on the lower in of the hotel chain.. meant for longer term guest. The person at front desk was wonderful. We ended up with an extra child that night. ( not ours) and she upgraded us to a two bedroom without us even asking. Very sweet. However, when we went int o first floor of this building, and our room, they reeked of smoke.. although it is supposed to be smoke free. I hated to complain, but spoke to her and got moved to suite on third floor. No bad smells up there. Room very clean, although with some stains on carpet, sofa.. The beds/ bedding were great. Clean adn very comfortable. Lots of pillows. After that, it was fine. Lots of tvs ( which my kids thought was great), enough room to spread out a bit and a fridge to put our food in. All in all, I would stay there again.

We stayed here recently for 2 weeks while my son was attending therapy at UAB Medical Center. It was very conveniently located and there were both restaurants and shopping within minutes of the hotel. We were in a 2 bd rm 1 bath unit on the 2nd floor. The rooms are definitely older, but they were clean and the beds very comfortable. They could do with more dish ware and glasses, utensils as we did plan on cooking and eating in alot. What was a big seller here was the GM, Fred, and his staff. They were all extremely accommodating and professional. Any time we had any issue they took care of it immediately, and gave us directions when needed. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again if we come back to the area in the future.

As a person who prefers Marriott properties I was a little disappointed at the beginning of my stay due to some lower than expected Customer Service. I had 2 seperate reservations for a 2 night stay. The 1st night was a paid stay in a 2 bedroom suite, the room was as expected. Equipped with a small kitchen, 3 flat screen TVs, and nice sized bedrooms. Bathroom could use a little refreshing but more than acceptable.

On the 2nd day I was staying on reward points in a smaller room. I went to speak with the staff about room changes and the Manager approached and asked how things had been. I explained the previous nights 2 issues (no extra linens & loud drunk guest) and he immediately explained the hotel was under new owners and management and they were working diligently to get things up to standard. He was very apologetic and went out of his way to ensure the rest of my stay was problem free.

Upon checkout the last day he greeted me by name and seemed very eager to make this hotel up to Marriott Standards.
