The city of Luoyang was great, but this hotel was average. The bed was hard- like most in China, and the food was less then apetizing. The staff was limited in English but friendly. I would try to find something a little better next time.

Checked into Luoyang Peony this morning. Last reviewer of this hotel was spot on. Started with Porter waiting in room for tip. Decided to get a coffee after a 6 hr bus ride, from hotel cafe. No cream or milk for coffee. Asked for a milkshake, same again. Prices are pricier than previous hotels we have stayed in. No complimentary water. Nothing in minibar. Thought the Western Buffet for dinner would be nice. Not one western dish available. All chinese, no names on dishes and most of it was cold even in covered food warmers. Food very unappetising. Rooms are very small. Bathroom is tiny and overall the room is marked and appears dated.

this hotel is supposed to be one of the best in Luoyang. i myself stayed at the Minyuan binguan (a youth hostel) by the train station, which is really basic Then i booked Peony when i had my family and was expecting a decent hotel. it was a huge disappointment. the room is clean -- but that is what it should be. other than int'l tv channels and some amenities, it is not significantly better than the youth hostel, certainly not worth RMB 660. Even the lobby is unappealing. the drainage in my room was cloaked up.

This was one of the nicer hotels we stopped in whilst touring China with a small group. The rooms were clean and there were fresh bathrobes in the wardrobe (a small luxury during our '1 rucksack each' tour.) As someone else mentioned, beds, like many other Chinese hotels, were rock hard. My advice, if there is a spare duvet in the closet, sleep on it for a little extra cushioning!
