I stayed there during a business trip for two nights. The room itself was not too bad, however dark with unsufficient lights and the bathroom was tiny and not clean. The room offered a view onto a horrible roof top landscape. The so called "Western Restaurant" (chinese buffet style) was for me a nightmare, and the dirty and chaotic surrounding of the hotel did not provide any alternative. The staff was friendly, however did not speak/understand English. The room was very cheap with free Internet access.

Stayed for one night only as part of a tour of China. We visited the Shaolin Temple and Longmen caves. Clean hotel with quite an impressive entrance. From the room we looked out over the city below. Breakfast was fine but we didn't eat any other meals in the hotel. We were not impressed with having to pay to use the swimming pool though you were provided with a towel and slippers to wear in the changing room. Hard beds as in most of China but personally I slept well.

We stayed at the Peony Hotel on October 4-5 2011, and used it as a base to visit the nearby Shaolin Temple and Longmen grottoes. The hotel is adequate. The breakfast buffet was typical of other hotels, but was often crowded. The coffee was burned to within an inch of its life. Rooms were okay with typical very firm mattresses. The staff was friendly, although our interaction with them was limited. There is an airline desk in the lobby to help with air connections. The restaurant on the second floor was good. The location was good for our purposes, but for those more interested in walking the city I would suggest a location nearer the central business district and the more modern buildings there.

The hotel is good and looks magnificiant from outside from its looks. The rooms were big, neat and clean but the carpets in the room were emmitting an peculiar odour which was quite distressing.However not all th rooms had this peculiar odour from the carpets!
Location wise it was situated quite well. Room service was efficient with great food! All rooms were having good amanities with a view of the busy city from the window.
