“Business trip - no internet”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 October 2010

IBis Aracaju is the same of all Ibis around the world. As a friend said it is the Big Mac of hotels. Everything was OK, but there is a big problem - no free internet in the apartments, something very common in a lot of hotels in Brazil. If you want internet on your room you have to pay R$ 7/hour (around US$ 4/hour). I think Ibis should change its policy about internet.

“FINE SERVICE”

Fully in line with Ibis standards, this hotel is located rather from any beach, but close to a medium-sized mall which might be convenient for every traveller.

  • Liked — Acccording to what I expected regarding Ibis standards.
  • Disliked — Location far from being the best in town.

“its an Ibis - nothing more, nothing less, but thats enough!”

Just another stock standard Ibis, clean rooms, good hot shower, good cold air conditioning, reasonable breakfast and secure carparking. All very good value for money, only downside is that the location isnt that exciting, nowhere really to walk to for food in the evening.

“Spotless, Friendly, Excellent”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 April 2007

Stayed in the Ibis Aracaju for a total of 8 days in February and March 2007 during two stays. The place is fairly new I suspect (couple of years old at the most, probably custom built as an Ibis hotel) and is well run with clean rooms and friendly staff.

The hotel is not located near tourist attractions (not that there are that many in Aracaju), customers appeared to be mostly business people such as reps and a few Brazilian tourists. When I was there the nightly rate was R$95 during the week and R$85 for weekend nights.

The room had everything required, from a good bed to a well-lit bathroom with excellent shower, area to hang clothes, working desk and bench, views over the surrounding residential area, fridge, effective climate airconditioning, tv, DDI phone, in-room safe, and good, high-speed wireless Internet (extra charge; when I stayed it cost R$12 for 24 hours). There is also a computer downstairs that can be used by those without laptops, this is more expensive however (by the hour; not sure what price).

There is a good restaurant downstairs which serves nordestino food, if you have been to the Northeast of Brazil this will be familiar (the meats, fish and even chicken are often partially dried and flavoured with local spices), however personally I prefer different food and when I stayed there there were no true "international standard" dishes on the menu, because even the steak was effectively Carne do Sol (which is a semi-dried type of beef; high quality beef, but it is an acquired taste and I prefer normal steak over this). I made a comment to the hotel to add some staples like spaghetti, pizza etc. to the menu and they will be looking into this I am sure.

Staff are very friendly and at least one staff member speaks excellent English. On both occasions the room was spotlessly clean.

The hotel is about halfway between the city and the main city beaches, and also about halfway between the city and the airport, and is located in a residential area on a main road. Taxis to the city centre usually cost less than R$10, and city buses also pass by the hotel.

The hotel is just down the road from Shopping Jardins, the largest mall in Aracaju. It can be walked in 5-10 minutes from the hotel or would be about 2 minutes by car. The mall has a full selection of shops, and two food courts with over 10 restaurants including several that serve good standard meals, plus Chinese, Japanese, Italian, and also a McDonalds.

  • Liked — Quality of the room
  • Disliked — Menu at the restaurant
