Well, for starter I must say that I haven't payed full rates to stay at this hotel. For me it cost about R$ 250 per day. Their normal rates start at R$ 600 (US$ 350), and that was a relief, since this hotel isn't worth half of that.
The location is quite good to be honest. There is a subway station nearby (about ten minutes walk) and the neighborhood is quiet. The hotel itself used to be good about 15 or 20 years ago, but it clearly stayed in the past. The breakfast was regular for me, my wife thought it was lousy at best. The hotel is quite worn out, needs some refurbishment. It wasn't the best of cleanliness also. The rooms were OK but the floor was noisy. There is also a sushibar but we didn't go there. The gym in the top floor is quite nice I thought. The staff was generally nice and corteous, but they couldn't do much.
The worst part of the whole experience was some uneducated family acroos the hall that arrived 3 am and was VERY loud, screaming to each other and speaking very loudly on the phone as if they were at their own place, just plain rude. I called the front desk who could do absolutely nothing about it. I was very mad.
In the end I recommend you to go somewhere else. I mean, it's not a bad hotel at all, it's just too expensive for what it offers.
