“DO NOT STAY HERE ULESS YOU HAVE TO!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2011

Where to star. May fiance and I have been here for almost a month. The place is close to his office and they take dogs. Locacion is probably the big plus at this hotel. BUT. The place is ruin down, gray curtains that used to be white, carpet has stains. The breakfast has never change the whole time we've been here. They lost electricity a coulpe of times for a few hours but apparently that is common in Brazil. They decided to clean the water tank on a Sunday, leaving everyone without water half a day, when we finally got it back, water was yellow the rest of the day, they say just let it run... five days after, not water again, they said they had a problem with the provider... another half a day without water, not to mention is 85 degrees here and they ran out of clean glasses in the kitchen for breakfast. They do have a laundry in the basement which is helpfull if you have to stay for a long time but only one of the washers works well, I discovered that after I took my clothes out of the other washer only to find out they were still dirty.... The internet is free but too slow. The restaurant at the hotel is average for Sao Paulo, not worth it. The staff are nice. The hotel is fine if you are only gonna stay for a couple of days. We will not stay here again.

Was there just one evening but would definitely stay again. Small restaurant, but basic room had kitchenettes and living room. Free Internet.

“Serviceable Hotel at a Good Rate in a Good Area of the City”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 January 2011

I stayed here during my first visit to Sao Paulo this December just before the Holidays. The hotel was better than the reviews I had read previously. Items I found on the positive included:
- good walking area near hotel with some terrific local neighborhood restaurants - I always felt safe
- helpful and enthusiastic staff
- spacious room far enough up to be beyond street noise
- relatively clean room however there was some previous water damage near the back window and the carpet was a bit worn, but no more than the average US based hotel

The negatives to watch for are:
- Marriott Executive Suites does not participate in the normal Marriott Rewards so you get only one night credit for every three nights stayed
- The food was terrible - and expensive, I now know what the old saying "tough as leather" means - but, I found good restaurants nearby
- The hotel management has understaffed the hotel and the service is stretched - although everyone was very helpful when they could find the time

“Has seen better days”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 November 2010

I stayed in this hotel about two years ago with a great experience. This last trip was less than satisfactory. Leaks around the bathroom, smelly room and unanswered requests for service contributed to the poor experience.

The "Virtual Concierge" that Marriott touts was ignored at this property.

The property does have some plusses. They allowed an early check-in after an overnight flight from the USA and also allowed for a late check-out without charge. Staff has a great attitude but doesn't quite execute.

“Not up to Marriott standard”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 October 2010

My wife and I stayed here twice within one year, once for 4 weeks, once for one week, for busiess reasons.
While the front desk service is helpful and friendly, room service is a bit sloppy and inconsistent. The hotel seems to cut costs drastically: Curtains are grey, towels threadbare, bathroom floor towels available only on request. No salt and sugar in the citchenette, no dishwashing detergent.
The printer in the business center was out of order, getting a fax sent from the front office is cumbersome. Traffic noise is deafening on the North side of the building - try to get a room facing South.

The gym is ok and the outdoor pool had great water quality when we used it.
I would recommend the place only if you have to stay in the area.
