“Great Place, Service, Location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 January 2012

I have stayed quite a few times at this hotel in the last couple of years and have never had a bad experience. It's in a quiet residential area and is safe. The front desk staff is stellar and without exception speak English (even though I speak Portuguese and don't need it).

The rooms are clean and have any amenity you might need for a long stay: kitchenette with dishwasher, toaster, fridge, microwave, dishes, etc., good work desk with Internet connection, desk lamp, decent chair, separate bedroom (small, but serviceable), decent bathroom with tub/shower. Nice balcony with views from almost all sides.

Overall, I choose this over the Renaissance, even though I would be getting full Marriott night credits there (this one gives one night per 3 as a long-stay property). Everyone gets treated like Platinum there anyway, so it don't seem to matter.

Room Tip: I like a room in the center facing the street -- the higher the better.

“Perfect for longer stays”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 December 2011

The hotel is in a very nice area of the city, with tree-lined suburban streets, and close to a huge park. Unlike most of Sao Paulo this area is safe to walk around and there are a few restaurants and stores within walking distance so its very convenient for avoiding the legendary traffic. I stayed in a one-room apartment - the bedroom is rather small with only just enough space to walk around the bed, but the other room has a small kitchenette, a sitting area section with couch & coffee table, and a desk and chair – all would come in very useful if you were in the city for a long stay and needed more space. A bonus was the balcony for some "fresh air" but it could do with a chair so you could sit out there & enjoy the view. Bathroom was small but adequate with shower-in-bath. Like others have said, the rooms are showing their age a little, with some scuffing on furniture and a few stains on the carpets – but these are very minor and the whole place is spotless and comfortable so I it didn’t bother me in the least. Breakfasts were nice enough with a selection of breads, cereals, yogurt, sliced meat and cheeses, lots of fresh fruit etc. The hot section of scrambled eggs and bacon/sausage was a bit disappointing, but you can also order eggs to be made. I had the buffet lunch twice and it was great with both salad/antipasta selection and some tasty hot meals, but there was a conference on so I'm not sure if its always the same standard. Pool area isn't very big, but its a small hotel and I was the only one using it during my stay which was a bonus – nice long pool for doing lengths. Along with the hotel gym and the nearby park, this hotel is a great choice if you want to stay active during your stay and get outdoors in a very congested city.

“Great to stay with family and long term”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 November 2011

This hotel it's a good option when travelling to Sao Paulo, the location it's very good in one of the best residencial areas of the city(Vila Nova Conceicao), perfect for your morning's jogging or walking distance from Ibirapuera's park. The breaksfast has the basics, but very well prepared and nice people. The rooms are very good with complete furniture for long term stays and you can find good rates to the weekends. Also the hotel's service it's very good.

“Good location but hotel needs some renovation work”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 September 2011

The staff at this hotel was very good. Quick to help. The breakfast in the hotel was fabulous and the other meals at the restaurant were fine. The little shop in the lobby is convenient. The hotel looks very nice when you walk in and the gym is good. The problems started in the room. The carpet was a bit dated, but in general the room was OK. It had a small kitchen and everything was clean. The bathroom was not OK. The shower sprayed about a gallon of water around the bathroom every time you took a shower. Sometimes there was hot water, sometimes there wasn't. The water reeked of bleach. Twice during the week we stayed there the water in the hotel was shut off for 3 or 4 hours while emergency maintenance work was done on the pipes. The hotel was very conveniently located. Good restaurants and close to Ibirapuera Park, but the rooms should be updated and the plumbing is in need of an emergency overhaul!

“OK, but noisy”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 August 2011

The hotel is noisy. It's not the guests that make the noise - its the staff
Some of the rooms they decide to clean at night. Suddenly at 9:30pm you will hear the vacum cleaner starting up. It will go on for half an hour.
The bellboy with his walky talky on full volume will go around the corridors talking out loud. You can try to explain to them that you are trying to get an early sleep. You're wasting your time - most of the staff don't know a word in English.

Early check-in: I had to pay a full day's rate (bad!)
Late check out - they allowed me to check out at 7pm (thank you!)
Front desk were polite, but not always helpful.
Breakfast was good, but small. (but this is what I've seen in other Brazilian hotels)
Restaurant dinner was good, waiter doesn't speak English (he had to ask the front desk clerk to come and explain what's recommended)
The Gym is good. (2 treadmills, weights etc..)
Minibar in room is verrrrrry expensive

The best advantage of the hotel is that it's 10 minutes walk to the Ibirapuera Park. FANTASTIC!

Bottom line:
The food in Brazil is excellent. The weather is excellent.
The people are friendly. My stay in Brazil was a great experience.
The hotel is a good hotel, but not great.

Room Tip: Ask for top floors and away from the street
