“old hotel, not 4 star”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 January 2008

We stayed only for one night in August 2007. We arrived at the hotel around 8 pm, and could tell this was not a safe area to be walking around at night. The check-in took longer than expected, although the staff was friendly and courteous. I speak spanish fluently, and understand some portuguese which helped since the person did not speak english.

The carpet in the room was very old and stained (I didn't dare walk around without shoes on). The bathroom tub was also stained, and the toilet made a lot of noise during the night.

The hotel was generous in providing us with a rollaway cot for no extra charge for a third person.

The room did have a magnificent view of the city, and there was a balcony we could walk out on.

The breakfast was very good, we did not try the restaurant for dinner.
We only stayed for one night, checking in to the Slaviero Executive Jardins Hotel, which we loved. We came back to this part of town later during the day, and felt ok walking around by ourselves (young women), but were still cautious and only carried a small backpack. It's location in the center of the city is ideal for visiting the historic center, but is not that safe at night.

Overall, it was ok for a one night stay, but would not stay there again.

“Says 4 Star,but is 2 Star”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 September 2006

Good location and breakfast.
Hotel faces main sqare and Municipal Theater and Aqueduct.
At this time part of the lobby is being demolished. At our arrival front desk clerk showed up in jeans and somewhat dirty shirt.
Hallway and room carpet very dirty.Windows not soundproof.Street noise very loud at 13th level ! Toilet shutoff valve eventually turns off after 4 loud minutes. At one time our door key started spinning and we could nor open the door.Had to wait 3 hours to enter apt.after they finally located some expert.
Overall not much to see except street life, or one takes in the beach scene 60 km away. The zoo is 30 min.away by way of the metro underground, which is first class and cheap. But the zoo is not fully staffed with animals, but is nice.Taxi to the airport is R$80 but can be negotiated for R$60 and takes 25 min.

“Great Stay!”

Well this hotel definitely deserves a review because I had a great stay there. It is a clean, well-located hotel in the downtown area of Sao Paulo. You are close to everything - metro, shopping, ATMs, monuments to see, amongst the theatre district and other sites. Very interesting and truly a bargain for what you get. You have a large, clean room, although nothing exceptionally luxurious. The staff was fantastic and unbelievably helpful in assisting all my needs. Really recommend it!

“old hotel with no charm”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2005

This hotel seemed like a stately but affordable hotel from the website. Unfortunately when we arrived, we heard that it was a very nice hotel about 20 years ago. Absolutely no one spoke any English and there was no concierge. The doorman looked confused when I pointed to the sign above the desk that read `concierge`. We were left to wander around the city until we found a travel agency that was able to book us a city tour. The room was minimal, and with no safe, which was unfortunate. The bed was very hard and had tears in the sheets, which were not changed for the duration of our stay. The elevators in the hotel worked intermittantly, as the hotel seemed to turn them off frequently. The hallways were dark and depressing.
