“Sub-par customer service”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 December 2010

Our stay started off on a bad note dealing with the hotel manager. One of the reasons we chose this hotel was that it had advertised free wi-fi in the rooms. When we called the front desk to ask how to set up we were told that the "free" wi-fi is too slow to use for the internet and can only be used for text based emails but there is a faster available for 15 R$ a day. Not crazy expensive, but it is still a bit of a con. The free service is unusable, so you are forced to pay for the faster service. When I called to complain about this, i was hung up on 3 times until finally I spoke to the manager. She told me that they were only obligated to provide a wi-fi connection and that she didnt care whether it was useable or not that I should just pay and shut up. After a long discussion, the manager finally gave in and gave us the fast service for free for the duration of our visit. Add that to the fact that only twin beds are available in this hotel, and the gym was shut down for the duration of our stay, I wouldn't reccomend this hotel. I don't like the feeling of being ripped off, whether it is $15/day or not.

“reasonable hotel in the Jardins area of Sao Paulo”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 April 2010

Everybody knows Brazil is rather expensive these days and Sao Paulo being the economical center of the country even more so. However, I found that the Slaviero Executive in the Jardins part of Sao Paulo offers good value for the money. Strategically located between Avda. Paulista and Av. Faria Lima it is within walking distance of many good restaurants. Rooms are clean and no-nonsense. Dont expect luxury but a comfortable pad after a day of hard work. Breakfast buffet is somewhat modest for Brazilian standards but still plenty to chose from. Rooms are very clean and at least on the upper floors quiet, which is not obvious in Sao Paulo.

“exceptional hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 January 2008

We exchanged into this hotel through RCI (timeshare) in September 2007 for 7 days. From the moment we checked into the hotel we felt very well taken care of. We arrived early in the morning (7am) and the staff took our luggage into storage until our room was ready in the afternoon.
Our room was very clean, the beds were comfortable, everything was working well (including the toilet and the hot water). We had two twin beds, a mini refrigerator and a desk in the room. The view out our window was of the back alley, but we were out on the town most of the time anyways. The first few days they did not have an extra roll-away bed available, so we had to get another room for the third member of our party, that room was also in excellent condition. The last few days they were able to get a roll away for an extra charge, and even with this in the room, there was still space to move around.
The breakfast was excellent, very good variety. Like I said before, the staff was very courteous, professional and helpful. Most spoke some english or spanish. They helped us with directions to the metro and other areas of interest. They also helped us with taxi fares, as the taxi driver wanted to overcharge us for the trip back to the airport.
There is internet available for a fee, but the connection is slow. There is coffee available in the lobby 24/7.
The area (jardins) is very upscale, and we walked around extensively and always felt safe. there are very good restaurants around, but are bit expensive since this is a nicer area.
Overall, I would definitely stay here again.

“Did Not Meet Our Needs. Would not stay here again.”

We arrived about 11pm after a 11 hour flight and were having jet-lag and tired. First mistake, not checking the shower and toilet. We really like the size of the room! We unpacked and then it happened, the toilet would not remove the waste, we called and the engineer came to our room, "just 15 minutes then ok". It still did not work 40 minutes later. Also there was no hot water from the shower. We called and had our room moved, with the bellman watching the first thing we did was flush the toilet with 1 piece of toilet paper, it did not go down, off to the third room.
The toilet worked but only warm water from the shower. The breakfast was very good. This hotel is not setup to handle english speaking tourists. The concierge not human, its a machine. We made our way with an expensive driver from the hotel for our touring. Before leaving for the day I spoke to the manager about the problems and she advised she would get
back to me. When we returned she had not left a note, message, apology, but she did manage to ignore her guests.
As our flight was leaving at 7am on the 3rd morning we asked if our included breakfast could be sent to the room, the answer was no, we would have to order and pay room service. After a little more conversation they agreed to send us coffee and rolls with our wake up call. Another luke warm shower and we were off. I paid usd$99.00 per night, when I check the internet from the hotel the rooms were about $77.00. We should have been upgraded to a room with hot water. The reception staff were nice and helpful. I would be hard pressed to use the Slaviero Hotels in the future. The manager not following up was the breaker for this stay. I sent a email to the Slaviero main office over a month ago and not answer. In/6Mar07 out/9Mar07
