I spent five nights at Tryp Iguatemi, and found it an adequate, compact, and recently-built hotel. Many -- but not all -- staff members were helpful to English speakers. It is located in what seems to be a safe area close to the Av. Faria Lima business area. There are a handful of nearby eateries, but the restaurants at Amauri street are much further away than the "few meters" described on the hotel website.
The hotel has some aspects that take getting used to. The room layout was odd, and the shower setup was different from standards found in most 4 or 5-star hotels. Also, on my floor, apparently motion-sensors controlled the lighting in the hallway, but sometimes apparently did not work properly. As a result, sometimes at night, I would step out of my room to total darkness and had to walk down the hall to the elevator before the hallway lights would turn on.
The hotel has a rudimentary gym and small pool on the top floor.
