“An average stay at a high price”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2011

I stayed here in November 2011 and felt that the hotel was too expensive for what it offers. The Tryp Jesuino Arruda is located in a very upmarket area. Nearby restaurants offered a range of offerings from traditional Brazilian food to Mexican to the Japanese food at Nood. There are also a number of shoe and clothing shops in the area - although I found it too expensive.
A colleague and I shared a double twin-bed room which was quite small and really only suited for one person and one twin bed. At more than $200 a night the room was over-priced. Free wi-fi is available in bedrooms but so slow one feels steered towards the expensive option of buying internet access.
The front desk staff was quite friendly and helpful - even though they would not allow an early check-in. Restaurant staff was indifferent bordering on cold and distant.

“Mixed bag”

Great location with a good and helpful staff.
The room size was decent, looked new and fresh, bathroom decently sized unlike some of the other properties of melia. This was definitely a more modern room with a flat screen tv, desk/chair to work with, closet, side tables, nicely lit, wood flooring and charging points by the bed and at the table. Bed was comfortable, toiletries, like in all melia properties, were below average. Room service was prompt but if your vegetarian then it is no good. Breakfast at the restaurant was a regular one but the cakes were especially good. The restaurant is decently sized and allowed me to have my business meetings there. I had a medical emergency to deal with during my stay and the front desk was very helpful in all respects. The fax machine here didn’t work which was a huge pain because I could not get my required prescriptions.
The free net connection is horrible. The paid one is 40 brl for 24 hrs which feels like a rip off.
The gym is well located on the top floor but the weight lifting equipment is horrible.
There is no pool and the Jacuzzi was not functional.
There are plenty of restaurants around in the area to choose from, which remain open till late. I even managed to find some vegetarian ones.
I’d consider this for its location, modern room and a good night’s sleep.

“The best Tryp in Itaim”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 August 2011

There are three Tryp hotels in Itaim Bibi region: Iguatemi (the most expensive), Itaim (the cheaper) and Jesuíno Arruda.
For me Jesuíno is the best of them: great room, with coffemaker and more amenities than others. Perfect bed (six pillows) and a fantastic shower. So, everything you expect in a business hotel.
There is one problem: only two elevators. So try to avoid peack times, like 8AM or 7PM. Use to be lines.
The tip is to eat out of the hotel. Itaim is full of options to dinner.

“Excellent place to stay when working in São Paulo”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 July 2011

This hotel is very good. Check-in is easy and the staff is friendly. Room is huge, with a great bed, great shower and nice ammenities. LCD TV, free wi-fi internet connection and a nice breakfast made me very pleased.

Also, the location is great if you enjoy São Paulo's nightlife. The neighbourhood is full of excellent restaurants and pubs, and beautiful people walking around.

The only thing to complain was the room service menu. When I asked for it, someone brought me a piece of paper with the worst translations to English that I've ever seen. For example, they translated mashed potatoes as potato cream... Ridiculous. But the girl on the front desk was very receptive to my critics about the menu.

Room Tip: Ask for a king bed.

“Fine Hotel in an Expensive Neighborhood”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 July 2011

Just completed a 3 night stay here. The hotel was fine, the staff attempted to speak English with me and was successful for the most part. Just be aware that this hotel is in the center of one of the most expensive neighborhoods in Sao Paulo. This is cool because it is safe to adventure around the area but at the same time sucks because all of the restaurants and stores nearby are ridiculously pricey.
