“it's something special!!!!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 January 2012

I have stayed in this hotel years ago, and I have to say that this hotel, despite the area (not save), is something very special. I will not stay there again just because of the area. But the hotel it self is a great example of art decor architecture, I'm very glad i stayed there and seen that very special furniture, elevators...... all details. You have to see it.

“No 4 Stars standard but somehow it's got it's charme...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 July 2009

First off all, all the other revievs tell the truth. I travelled for business and everyone wanted to convince us to move to a better hotel. I wouldn't recommend this hotel for a business trip. The area is not the right place to leave the hotel or come back late all dressed up! But the wrecked art deco style has it's charme to me. And the fact that noone speaks english can also be funny. It took me 45 minutes to get a reciept with all the information on it I needed and I had to pull out all the stops for it speaking an french/italian/spanish/portugese-mix with the girl. And it was stamped on a 12 Dot matrix printer! The elevator, the tiles colour arrangement (see bathroom pics!), the original "antique" furniture... if you like that special south american Miami Vice style, your well here. And if you wear some worn out fake adidas shoes and your sleeping shirt after dawn, noone will look at you on the streets.

“Not so good, and I am not picky....”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 March 2008

This Hotel was just OK, room was acceptable. Be aware that the area is not safe on the weekends at night. But one could say that generally for Sao Paulo I suppose.

The one great thing is the Rodizio grill directly across the street, excellent and CHEAP. I cannot remember the name of it but we ate there twice - probably because we were afraid to walk to any other restaurants in the area.......

“Nice firm, but definitevly NOT what its seems”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 November 2006

I am from Buenos Aires, I have friends living in Sao Paulo: they almost laught at me when they saw where we were staying... very nice lobby: JUST ALL!
Its an old building 'repaired' and believe me, its far far faaar away from being an 4 stars hotel. The zone is also very dangerous at night: I had to move to another hotel, near a very nice place for the SAME price. Internet can do miracles: but at least, we laught because of the situation, incredible pictures...old building located in the worst place of San Pablo. Check others hotels , take a cab a ask one by one near Avenida Paulista or sourrounds: Its very very easy to find place, dont be afraid, 100 reais and you have a VERY VERY nice hotels. Hope my advice to be useful, go arround, dont make the mistake we made. Check out the Comfort Hotels.

“pics are decieving”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 October 2006

we found this hotel on tripadvisor. and pics can be decieving. This hotel needs a new updated rating which at best could be 2 star. Rooms are a good size but are in need of some TLC. Toilet has hard time flushing, shower heads need repair. Eating in the dining room is also an adventure since they have a hard time cleaning the remains of the last diner's food before passing off the unclean plate to you. Only one staff member could speak basic english and that is not the manager. But the worse part is by 6 pm when the sun goes down the area immediately surrounding hotel is not safe at all, especially if you are a women . Or perhaps you maybe like me from Toronto,Canada and you are not use to seeing such scenes unless it is Halloween. My boyfriend and I sprinted to McDonalds and back at 8 pm, with are hearts racing.

  • Liked — big window in room gave lots of light
  • Disliked — level of cleanliness, and they should renovate
  • Tips/Secrets — check out the surrounding area of a hotel,
