“Great location in Sao Paulo, and a nice hotel!”

My fiancee & I arrived at Sao Paulo and immediately arrived at this hotel. We arrived at 10am, so they were able to get us in for early check-in around noon. The service was great, the front desk spoke very good English. Our room was very clean, and a great size with a mini-fridge. We also used the hotel pool, which was indoor and had a sauna. The pool wasn't too big, but was very peaceful and obviously used very little by the hotel guests. Also, the hotel was able to store our luggage for us after check-out so we could continue to see the city.
The location of the hotel is another big plus - it is right off of Avenida Paulista (3 minute walk) as well as by one of the main metro lines. There is lots to do in the area within walking distance, including MASP (about a 15-20 minute walk) which has the Antiques Market on Sunday mornings. As for food, I would suggest the Bella Paulista, which is a place between the Tryp and Avenida Paulista. We went there one night to get bread and cold cuts, since we were tired and did not go out for a formal dinner. It is a great place to get food to make lunches, ect.
Overall a great experience, a comfortable room and great night's sleep. Would definitely recommend.

“Nice getaway (or nice spot)”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 November 2009

The best part of the hotel is the room. To be honest, the king size bed. The room is quite confortable, but yet simply decorated, as well as the bathroom. Considering the ok service (not to mention a dirty cloth left in the bathroom and the mini bar that was not refueled) I guess it is overrated. Anyway, it offers good rate for weekends. It's close to Paulista Avenue, Consolacao subway station and cultural attractions. As a bonus, in the corner you got Bella Paulista, a great bakery store. For walking around or resting, a good choice.

“paper thin walls..no noise insulation”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 November 2008

I have no problems with the location of the hotel..which is nice or the decor which is OK but what i cant forgive is the use of hard wood floors everywhere. On entering the room floor from the lift you feel as if you have to tip toe around because of the noise you are making. I class myself as a considerate hotel guest but even with twinkle toes you sound like an elephant. The corridor outside the rooms is quite small so that combined with floors leads to a noisy experience.

The rooms themselves are ok but with interlocking doors and the wood floors in yours and your neighbours rooms mean that any noise what so ever is magnified.i always worry when you can hear someone urinating in a toilet in a different room! I could hear footsteps in my neighbors room and all movement was obvious.

I am glad that i only had to spend one night in the hotel and that the person next door was quiet..but this hotel is let down by this huge design fault. Some other noise suppressing material should have been used.
Unforgivable in a modern hotel.

“Good choice, nice location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 October 2008

My boyfriend and I stayed at Tryp Paulista for 2 nights in September this year. The hotel has a really good location - it feels fairly safe, you are fairly central (although that doesnt mean too much because Sao Paulo is HUGE so you are always far from something....) and it is really close to Paulista Avenue (which, although having a business district feel, also has a beautiful park nearby, a sidewalk open market on Sunday mornings, a museum - I forget which - and lots of life and activity. All within walking distance of the hotel). The front desk let us check in 2 hours early which was great as we were exhausted after the long flight. The room itself was pretty standard although the shower stall was really big. In terms of negatives, they didnt have an iron in the room and we had to wait 20 minutes for someone to bring one up - slightly irritating. More important, DO NOT USE THE ROOM PHONE! I made a 6 minute call to the US and was charged 70 reais!! Also, if you are taking a cab from the airport to the hotel, make sure to ask the driver to put the meter on - we forgot (exhausted after 15 hour flight) and the cab driver ripped us off.

“Needs upgrade, but nice mid-range”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 October 2008

This is an ok mid-range hotel, not the best option probably for foreign business execs. The room feels a little dingy and smells a bit musty, very simple standard decorations, stains on the desk chair. They are renovating some floors to take out carpets. I lived for many years in SP and come back now on business and the surrounding neighborhood is safe, with some good restaurants and although street lighting is poor at night, standard in SP, walking around is generally safe. Did not find staff to be all that friendly, but given that it is Brazil, they are never really rude. If you are on a biz budget this is def. cheaper than the 4 or 5 star top hotels like the Marriot. If you are on vacation, there are nicer hotels to stay at for not a lot more money. Hotel wise, SP is expensive in general.
