“Leading hotel of the world? Not quite...”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 December 2011

After staying more than 15 years in the legendary Ca’d’Oro hotel (those were the days…), I had to find me another temporary refuge in SP while the Ca’d’Oro is undergoing a major refurb.
Why not try The Tivoli hotel, leading hotel of the world, can’t go wrong, no?
The Tivoli is well located and check in went smoothly, the paperwork was well prepared. I was given room 1501. The room was supposedly a “collection room “, whatever that may be.
My room was opposite the elevators; normally I would have changed rooms, but I was so tired after a 40 hour journey from Hong Kong to SP, that I reckoned I would sleep anyway, elevators or not.
I was wrong. I woke up after 4 hours of deep sleep and could not get back to sleep because of the constant noise.
It is not the normal noise of opening doors en people entering and leaving the lifts, but it is a practically continuous rumble and roar of the lifts going up and down, extremely irritating!
The bathroom has only a rain shower and no hand shower, quite annoying, especially when they do not provide a washcloth!
Breakfast is served in a kind of refectory, not very inviting. Buffet selection is adequate and coffee is good.
I noticed nothing exceptional or special about the hotel and I leaves me puzzled what on earth they are doing among the Leading Hotels of the World. Perhaps it is the in house Banyan Tree Spa?
When I complained about the noise at check out, they apologized. It was clear I was not the first guest to complain about this
Hotel Tivoli was a bad choice and I will have to continue my quest, until I can return to my beloved Ca’d’oro.

“Great choice in Sao Paolo!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 December 2011

I had a great experience at the Tivoli:

Positive:
- Great location, close to the main shopping district where most of the fine dining places are, also a very safe area which is important in Sao Paolo
- Friendly and efficient staff, especially at the front desk
- Rooms are very nice - modern decor, good size. But ensure you do not get the standard category as these rooms are not renovated and the style is outdated!
- Very friendly limousine driver (I took it for a city tour as well as for the airport transfer and i must say it is worth to spend some more for this good service, besides of the friendly staff it is also a good car compared to city taxis etc. available in SP)

Negative:
- the breakfast buffet is not really fantastic, it is OK and no mayor issues arised, but it is not at the level of a Leading Hotel (limited choice of bread, cereals etc., the quality is not really above average) - to be fair, I think often the breakfast in hotels is disappointing so this is not an exception here. However hope they will make some imrpovements

Overall a great choice, I would definitely consider to stay there again and can also recommend it!

“Five stars? Please”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 November 2011 via mobile

I frequently stay in Sao Paulo and I live in Sofitel Ibirapuera: that is a five stars hotel! I decided to change to stay in Jardins and I booked TIVOLI. I don't want to say it is a bad hotel: it is not a five stars. First, you have to pay for the gym... Second, you have to pay for each espresso during the breakfast. Third, housekeeping. For two time after a very busy day at 7pm I came back and I found that the room wasn't made up. The first day I had the bathrobe than.... Disappeared! No. Sofitel is better. No way

“Excellent accommodation !”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 November 2011 via mobile

This first class hotel has it all. Their fitness center rivals many health clubs. Good restaurant, bar, and a spa that offers full body massage and other treatment packages. Many local eateries and coffee bars in the area. The staff is very accommodating and informative.

“A good 'business' hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 November 2011

Stayed here in September 2011 on business. The city has traffic problems and previous hotels I've used have suffered. The Tivoli is in a great spot traffic wise. No snarl ups outside or traffic noise. Its location made getting about easy. I had a collection plus room which was spacious and had a great comfy bed. The room is decorated in browns and creams and looked fresh and well laid out. The work desk was a good size without getting in the way. The view is different on each side of the hotel. One view is up to Av Paulisa that isnt that great. The other is down across the city which was spectacular at night and makes use of the floor to ceiling windows. The rooms had enough hanging space and drawers as well as a small safe. The bathroom has a big walk in shower which was good after a day in meetings ! It also has hanging space if things need a rinse. I used it to freshen suits and shirts by steaming the room up to remove creases. As a word of caution, there is a drain in the shower base that can be closed by accident resulting in the floor flooding if the shower is left on. The room was always clean and tidy and it looked like the staff came in a number of times in the day to tidy up, top up toiletries etc. All the staff in the hotel were freindly and helpful especially the bar staff and concierge, Marcus. The outdoor sitting area is good with enough shade to stop you boiling in a suit. The pool was also welcome at the end of the day and there is a small garden beyond the pool through a gate on the right. The onsite gym is run by another business that charge for its use. There are lots of running machines, bikes etc as well as weights and weight machines and it was never over busy. I didnt use the restaurants in the hotel but did have bar snacks at lunch that were of good quality and offered a varied choice including sushi. I will use the hotel again and would recommend it

Room Tip: choose a room on a high floor looking down on the city. South view I think, on the left of the corr...
