This is indeed a great place and great value. Close to the main business center in the south area (Berrini/Shopping Morumbi/WTC) and for sure I would recommend this hotel.
One major issue for me is regarding internet access. They do provide a free one but the speed is simply ridiculous, clamped at around 30-40kbps at the most and this when there is not too many other guests on the network.
If you are willing to provide free access, at least provide QUALITY free access. It is better not to provide anything than what is available there. It is that bad.
Paid access is simply ridiculously priced at over US$ 25 a day for something that is not even considered broadband/high speed, with no discounts for someone that will stay there for a week for example.
Breakfast is very nice but a little on the pricey side at around US$ 12 per person (I mean for Brazilian standards the breakfast/dinner is on the upper side, more expensive than most similar places).
Other than that, great hotel, great staff and great location.

Hotel was fairly basic with few amenities. Dining room and buffet breakfast were both OK but nothing out of ordinary. Staff at front desk did speak English.

Goods: easy access by car; good beds; clean rooms; nice bathrooms; 64k free internet access on room (if you want more, you have to pay); reasonable price; various amenities; good service.

Bads: almost 2hs from Airport; small restaurant.

Recommended hotel just for stay a couple of days. I had a pleasant stay.

I just stayed in this hotel on Feb 14, sent there sight unseen. I was bowled over by the modern look of the exterior as well as interior. Once I walked into the room, I thought I was in Europe! The room was clean, bright, contemporary, and very comfortable. The bed was wonderfully firm with fluffy pillows.

In the morning, I enjoyed their breakfast buffet, which is simple but just enough to satisfy every craving. Eggs, sausages, fresh unblemished fruits, light yummy pastries, cheese, cold cuts, good coffee and freshly squeezed juices greet you as you walk into the restaurant.

However, I've traveled a lot and have worked in the hotel industry, so I can tell you that no matter how nice a hotel is, it's not memorable unless the service is good. At Hotel Melia, the service is exceptional. The front desk staff is quick, courteous, thorough, engaging, and .... every positive adjective you can think of, they live up to it. If someone does not speak English and you ask a question, they go the extra mile to walk you to the place you need for information or at least will demonstrate what you need to do. The training program for this hotel must be revolutionary for Brazil!

Also, if you need to get anywhere, they have a relationship with a taxi company to ensure that you get a safe trip and a fair fare to your destination. They have a free shuttle to the international airport, which leaves every hour on the hour, and it takes 15-30 minutes depending on the time of day.

Their rates seem very reasonable so I think I would stay there again if I am ever in Sao Paulo. I recommend this hotel very highly.
