“Standard and affordable hotel in upscale area”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 June 2010

I agree with other reviews here that the hotel is getting on a bit and the room quality is nothing to write home about. But in all honesty, I think it's one of the more reasonably priced hotels in the Jardim neighbourhood and you get what you pay for.

I thought the room I had was a a really decent size and the bathroom was clean. Yes it does exude a late 80s/early 90s feel and time for revamp is due, but compared to what I had to deal with in Florianopolis and Rio where I paid 3 times as much as the room was 10 times worse, I was quite happy to get a room where everything just works. If anything about the room requires the management's immediate attention, it is definitely the bed and linens. The blanket was ultra-thin and the mattress and pillows just weren't very comfortable. Should be an easy thing to fix with a small investment.

It is in a relatively safe neighbourhood (still this is a city you want to take caution everywhere you go), about 15 minutes walk to the nearest subway station. Breakfast was good and the staff were friendly. I booked through expedia and my credit card was charged by expedia at the time I made the booking. The staff however, was confused by this, I assume most of their guests pay for the room at the hotel at check out. So if you book through an agent that you already paid, make sure you sort this out upon check-in.

“not the way it used to be”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 April 2010

The Park Plaza at Alameda Lorena used to be a hotel in the solid middle class for busy business travellers. I know the place for over 15 years. Lately however, the establishment seems to be stressed and service has suffered accordingly. Rooms are sparse but are still functional for the average road warrior on a tight budget. Bathrooms are outdated and too tight for an average sized human being and cleanliness could be better. Obviously the hotel is still strategically located in the bustling Jardin area of Sao Paulo but these days it is overpriced for what it has to offer. Make sure you have an iron clad guaranteed reservations - otherwise you might get bumped off at a late arrival.

“A PIT!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 March 2010

Awful beds with cheap linens and pillows. The blanket looks like a skinned dog! Dirty, old bathrooms and worn carpet. Very Very noisy as you can here the toilet flush and can hear when someone starts the water for a shower. The lobby is nice and you think that it's a nice hotel until you get to the room. Very friendly staff, but I would skip it next time.

“Good value, good location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 December 2009

This hotel is well located in terms of restaurants and shopping being down the hill from Avenide Paulista, but as others have mentioned it is a bit of a walk up hill to the metro.

The room was smaller than I expected and the sound does travel between rooms. The guy in the room next to ours had the television up full volume and it woke me up in the middle of the night. Fortunately he responded to the proverbial wall bang and the sound didn't recurr at night.

The breakfast is good by most standards, but Brazilian breakfasts when they are great are better than anywhere in the world.

The staff on the front desk were very helpful and friendly. I'd stay there again.
