“Convenient and Little Else”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 December 2011

Stayed at Blue Tree Faria Lima on recent business trip. Rate was about US$240. Other than being convenient to the many business offices along Av. Juscelino Kubitschek, this hotel has little else going for it. My room was small and plain. The bed is a Murphy Bed that folds down out of the wall. Mold in the shower was another disappointment.

It has a health club and pool on the top floor. I must say that this has sweeping views of the city and it is a good place to catch the sun rise. The equipment however is very old. Three treadmills but one made such a horrific screaching noise that it was unusable. Also an elliptical and a bike. There is a small pool but it was a little murky (a sign says they do not use chlorine).

The hotel does serve a very nice breakfast that was included in the room price- eggs, breads, cereal, meats, juices and fresh fruit. There is also a small bar off the lobby that serves food.

There are several nice restaurants in the area that we walked to- Rascals, KAA, Kiichi.

But the convenience may a reason to stay here. My experience was that the traffic in this part of the city is horrible. Getting to a business in this part of the city from another hotel could take considerable time.

Room Tip: Very noisy streets. I was on 4th and heard it all. Higher should be better.

“Good location, not worth for 270 dollars per day!!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 October 2011 via mobile

The carpet was dirty, there was a bad smell from the AC ducts (no maintenance), bed sheet with yellow stains, the good thing of this hotel is the location and breakfast, nothing else, not worth for the price!!

“Good location, but rooms were quite ordinary”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 July 2011

The location of this hotel is great. Faria Lima is a main drag and felt quite safe as a single female wlaking everywhere, even in the early evening and early Sunday morning. Close to a large shopping mall with smaller shops on the way (it is the place to buy leather - shoes, nags, belts), and the variety of the shoes was excellent.

The hotel itself is fine. As with all things in OSunth America, patience is a virtue. Rooms were clean and I felt safe. Bed was okay, not great. Rooms quite spartan, but the bathroom was good. Room service was disappointing, and I could never get the WiFi in my room to work. Breakfast was okay.

The gym is very small and the pool is for dipping (not swimming), but as I said the location is great for walking to many shopping destinations.

It was close to the offices of my advisors down there so convenient location.

“Resonable hotel with the basics, very good location in Sao Paulo”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 July 2011

I stayed here for almost a week and in general was not disapointed. However, I took very little advantage of the hotel other than the room and the basics.

I had previously stayed at the Blue Tree at Murombi and the rooms and general hotel was comparable. The attractiveness of this hotel was the location. While the Murombi location has the mall just across the street, there are few other options nearby. At the Faria Lima, you are in the heart of many excellent restaurants and bars (some of which on busy nights have lines around the block). There are a few shops around but these are small local shops versus the large mall stores at Murombi.

The hotel is particularly convenient when flying into or out of the city airport (Congonhas) and for business in the area. One advantage is that even during busy times, many locations miss the major traffic snarls of Sao Paulo.

The internet in the hotel, both wired and wireless was very good and one of the best I had in any of the several Brazil hotels I have stayed at. Perhaps a bit expensive, but when buying the whole stay package was more reasonable than a day by day purchase.

The room was average with a very basic bathroom and a shower that is very powerful. My room had a fold up bed which seemed odd but was comfortable.

The desk and door staff we very helpful and it was easy to get a taxi whenever needed.

About the only real irriation I would make is that the room keys are very sensitive and become demagnitized. Since you have to have them to operate the elevator, you usually figure this out as soon as you get in. But if someone else is already in, you typically find out yours doesn't work until after the doors close and you get to ride to their floor and back to the lobby.

“Disappointing for Blue Tree standards”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 July 2011

The renowned Blue Tree group should be ashamed of having this hotel in their chain. It stands out (negatively) from all others I have seen. Despite the excellent location, friendly staff and flat screen tv, hotel premises are strikingly old. Rooms are small and bathrooms are tiny and ugly. In desperate need of a complete remodel to reach Blue Tree standars. You should expect much more for R$ 400/day.
