This is a nice hotel, what you would expect from this large chain. Get a deal online where you will get well under half of rack rate (I was there for more than a week, and the savings added up significantly): the hotel itself is clean, and the staff friendly with at least one English speaker on hand to help out at any given time. The restaurant food was good, but overpriced, and the breakfast was also good (and typical Brazilian breakfast of breads, cheeses, soupy scrambled eggs, juices, fruits, yogurts, meats, etc) but pricey if it’s not included in your room rate. There are plenty of options nearby for breakfast on Paulista for ¼ of the price (including a MacDonalds 2 minutes away if you're not into experiencing local cuisine).
The location is great, just a block off of Paulista Avenue and a 10 minute walk from Paulista shopping center and Sunday markets; there are lots of pubs and restaurants of all kinds within easy walking distance, and a set of outdoor market-style pubs two minutes walk away on Paulista with live music and late hours. The subway is also just a couple of blocks away, which puts a lot of other attractions within easy reach (the Municipal Market, 25 de Marco, Liberdade, etc): don’t bother taking a cab to these places, it is a waste of time and money, this is like any other subway in a major city and safe as long as you’re there within reasonable hours (and heavy police presence whenever I was there). There is a huge supermarket 3 blocks away if you want to stock up on water, beers or other goodies without paying through the nose at the hotel (there is a fridge in the room). To walk from Paulista to the hotel late at night, however, requires a jaunt of about a block through some dark areas, so if you're alone, take a cab for $5 (although I never had any issues).
I had a double room high up, and had no issue with sound: the hotel floors seem to be secure, with card access required on each floor and cameras down each hallway as well. There is a concierge and front desk staff 24 hrs. Housekeeping seemed to do a good job. The shower pressure and temperature was irregular but manageable and the beds were fine. Laundry is very expensive as you might expect, there is another laundry just down the street from the hotel which is much cheaper if you need some laundry done (just ask the concierge for the name). The towels in the room are a bit thin and need an update.
There is a little fridge in the room and a free safe in a small closet with hangers. The free internet is slow if you’re doing anything other than just checking emails (especially the wireless, wired is better) or you can pay for faster internet, but I didn’t notice a significant difference, especially if you use the hardwire provided on the desk, which also has a small working light. There are 110V outlets as well. There is a decent sized TV with a couple of English channels, and corner suites are marginally larger and have balconies, although there isn’t a whole lot to look at unless you’re into heavy urban scenery.
Overall, I’d stay there again and would recommend it for the heavily discounted internet rates that come up: if you’re paying anywhere near rack rate, you’re getting owned.
Room Tip: Corner suites have a balcony.
