The hotel is clean and modern. It doesn't have tons of charm but has a central location, is clean and above all the price is right.

The hotel is good. As mentioned in other reviews, is has a low-cost, no-frills policy which tends to satisfy those who need only basic infrastructure (air-con, wi-fi, good breakfast etc) and prioritize work or tourism around town rather than luxury. It is, actually, a quite nice place to stay; rooms are very comfortable, location is fantastic and service from desk clerks and breakfast waiters, in general, is good.
There are, however, some bad bits. First, in its preoccupation with being low-cost, the hotel is somewhat stingy; during check-in, this guy from another room came and asked for more pillows (three of them, to be exact), on grounds that he had a lower back problem, and the clerk replied, "probably not, sorry". I concluded the hotel does not strive to assure guests their most pleasant time, since his request did not seem to me an unreasonable one, although it might indeed be uncommon. In addition, the fridge in the room lacked water, and there is no room service (frankly, I do not think room service would really increase the hotel's fare, given the fact that such services are usually very expensive anyway).
Another problem is the noise. When it came from outside, I tried to ignore it because it is the obvious disadvantage of a downtown hotel. However, it came from inside the hotel as well, and this happened mainly because other guests were noisy and impolite. Since the hotel is small and rooms are rather close to the stairs and social areas, this problem could not really be overlooked. This was the only reason for me not rating the hotel full marks on sleep quality, because other related characteristics (i.e., quality of the bed/mattress, climatization etc) are excellent. Bearing this in mind, avoid staying at the first floor, because it is close to the noisy business center and breakfast room.
A comment about Hotel 155's location: nearby restaurants (at avenida Avanhangava) are all delicious, they really increase the hotel's value. Do yourself a favor and try one of them.
All in all, the hotel is a great place to stay, particularly if one is more focused on work or on the many cultural attractions São Paulo has to offer than on staying at the hotel during daytime. If this is your case, I recommend it to you.
The hotel is basic but worth every penny:good bed, good shower, ok breakfast. Helpfull staff and wifi (if it works) location between av paulista and prace republica and the good restaurant familia mancini round the corner.
If you like it cool, plain and straightforward you can only stay at this hotel. Best value for money ever. Sao Paulo is a business metropole and the 155 very much a clean-cut business affair. Visiting a friend on our way home, we enjoyed staying at this low-cost hotel to the max. Would stay there any time if I had to return to this tourist unfriendly city. People at front desk very helpful trying very hard with little knowledge of English. Breakfast plentiful, fresh and again value, value, value for what you pay.!
This is an excellent place to stay for a few days in Sao Paulo if you are looking for something nice and clean without any luxurious addition. The rooms indeed are completely new and very clean. The bed was comfortable. There was a lot of traffic in the street behind the hotel, but the windows are soundproof and the noise doesn’t bother you for sleeping.
I wish there were more places like this!
