Plastic covered mattresses...Close to Congonhas airport. Carpet and chairs were stained-perhaps chair also needs a plastic cover.

I spent a week at the Bourbon Convention hotel in January 2012.

Pros:
1. Great location, especially if you're flying in and out of the Congonhas airport.
2. The rooms are really comfortable, and great for a good night's rest.
3. Very fast laundry service.
4. English was not a problem at all, which helped non Portuguese speakers like myself.

Cons:
1. The fitness center closes early, so if you have a late meeting and want to squeeze in a workout at night then you'll be in trouble. It's weird that they would close it because it isn't monitored and needs no staff.
2. The internet connection was down for a whole night, I'm hoping this was just a one-off event but I only have one data point to make this review.
3. There's always a massive line at the front desk, and they tend to be understaffed there.

In order for a hotel to get the best rating from me there are a few items common to hotels that must be in good condition. The grout in the bathroom must be intact and unstained. There must be no mold or mildew in the bathroom. And the carpet must be clean. My test is whether or not it makes white socks dirty from walking on it. The tv remote must also be in near new condition and working.

Bourbon failed on carpets and bathrooms. Also the bathroom fixtures like the soap dish and toilet roll holders fell off. In addition there was a great variation in the quality of room service food and accuracy of the order. Some of this I believe was just due to language barriers.

These are all minor points and overall the hotel is fine. It is in a safe area with a huge mall next door that has an equally huge food court. The soundproofing between rooms is a little lacking and the hotel sits on the departure path of a major airport. Most flights are done by 11 pm and dont resume until 7 am. But I work in aviation so I barely heard it.

I also had one day where housekeeping took all the towels and forgot to leave any replacements. Also the minibar was not always replenished every day. Laundry service was excellent and I had my items back the same day and well packaged.

So as I said, this place just needs to pay attention to some details and also become a little more consistent on some service items in order to be top rated.

The room was OK and although the views were OK on the top floor the scream of planes landing at the nearby Congonhas airport wasn't and made it difficult to have phonecalls.

I liked the separate meeting room that was part of my suite it came in very useful.

Room looked 'tired' particularly the bathroom was clean but very worn.
General hotel facilities were poor and the bar and breakfast areas were way too small for the amount of people staying in the hotel and conferences being hosted.

I did have room service one night (a night in with my laptop and a rush presentation to get finished!), it was late, cold and poor quality
