I am originally from Brazil, my husband is Canadian and we live in Toronto, Canada. I like to go back to Brazil whenever possible not only to visit my family and friends but also because I love my country. My husband and I adore Florianópolis city, Floripa for short, which is situated in the beautiful state of Santa Catarina immediate south of Sao Paulo by the Atlantic coast.

In October 2010 we gladly packed our bags, flew to Sao Paulo for a few days then took off to Floripa for 10 days. We had read many reviews on places to stay and finally decided to explore Praia do Santinho located in the north point since we had never been. In looking for a place to stay we saw that ‘Pousada Atoba’ had great reviews so we decided to try it. We can sincerely say that we found a hidden gem in Floripa! Pousada Atoba was not only a great place to stay but the owners Salete and Mauro were the most gracious and terrific people we’ve ever met! They made us feel like family, I kid you not. They drove us around whenever they could, as we had not rented a car. They showed us great beaches and many other places with incredible views, which we would never have found on our own! They even cooked us a delicious BBQ which Mauro was so proud of. They really made us feel very special and when it came time to go back home I cried!! We highly recommend Pousada Atoba and we can’t wait to go back again. Their rooms are equipped with a kitchen facility and they get cleaned on a daily basis. The breakfast has a variety of home cooked baked goods, fruits, cheeses, cold cuts and some other deliciousness which got us through a great part of the day. They are located about 5 minutes away from Santinho beach, there is a grocery store 2 min away and to the right side there is a great hill to do some amazing hiking, please wear running shoes! Love this place!!!!

First of all Ilha de Santa Catarina is a big island and if u cant or dont hire a car, think twice what u want from your holiday in sense of tranquility or party. As I travelled alone I have been to both sides and although I transferred myself later to Lagoa da Conceicao
I'm really happy that I have been to the north and Pousada do Atoba for a couple of days. The beach praia do santinho is not even a 5 min walk away from Pousada do Atoba. It's a family business and the breakfast has been phenomenal as well as the room and the service. They are really friendly and I felt very comfortable there. It's quiet and you can enjoy your time of being alone and rethink your life! :-) One of their daughters Aline has been so nice that I have no words. Thank you so much for making my stay that beautiful!

Made this booking on the ratings on trip advisor and i'm glad to say we were not disappointed. We originally booked for three nights through hostelbookers and ended up staying six!
Rooms themselves are simple but comfortable and equipped with everything you may need. The Pousada has a great location around 5 min walk to the beach and if you have enough of the sand there is a lovely little pool to relax by.
The breakfast is fantastic with delicious freshly baked cakes and fresh fruit in abundance.
All the above is held together by the super friendly owners, Aline and her family. They honestly can not do enough to help you, from ringing to find out bus time tables to providing beach umbrellas. These guys are genuinely interested in their guests and go over and above to help.

Tip - try and get to Florianopolis main bus station fairly early to get the bus up to the Pousada as Taxis are quite pricey.

We stayed here for one night, and I loved it. It is set up the hill away from the road, so you don't hear any traffic. We enjoyed sitting in the courtyard area and enjoying the beautiful trees, shrubs, and conversation. Breakfast was delicious. This is a great Pousada located on the north side of the island! We walked to the beach (it was about 10 minutes to walk) and had an amazing time swimming in the ocean. It was wonderful.
