If you need to do something in the city; this is the hotel to stay at. The pricing is good, it includes breakfast, which even that it is a buffet, ITS the same every day!. The scramble eggs are lousy, they've got nice pastry and cakes, there's always cheese bread (pao de queiso) very brasilian, diferent fruits, etc. Just keep in mind, that everyone seems to eat breakfast at the same time, although the restaurant opens from 6:30 to 10:00..am., I saw desperation in people having to wait for a table..., and there's no order in achieving that!, the waiters are there only to empty and clean the tables, not to put any kind of orde inside the restaurant.
The rooms are very clean, a good bathroom size, with shower. I disliked the towels, because they are so used that you can almost see through!, and small.
The pool area is on a roof, but its surounded by tall buildings, and just a small oppening that you can have "some view". It makes you feel shut in. The fitness area has like 2 old treadmills and one bike.....and a some weights...
The people are nice and try to help you as much as they can... althought the language IS a real problem. You can practice your portuguese!!!. No concierge (or someone) at all to help you with questions of where to, or places to go to, they give you a booklet with restaurants around the isle.
Favorable points: Its in the city. Its very close from the bus station..., from there you can go anywhere around the isle, (beaches like half hour, ftom there). Its near the "old town", which is lovely. Next to the main avenue Biera Mar: with very nice restaurants.and high end buildings.
You have a direct view to the bridge, and very nice sunsets.
Against: Pool and fitness center areas.towels, and some breakfast dishes. And if your idea is to enjoy the ocean, and beaches, keep in mind that they're not just a few steps away.
