Got this place for just under R$202 per night which is a bit of a bargain for this part of Brazil. We stayed in town thinking there were more options for nightlife but that proved incorrect. Luke a previous reviewer said, I can be tricky to find somewhere to eat on town, but places do exist in the Baira Mar Norte area in the north of the centre, which is a gentle 10-15 min stroll from the hotel. The hotel is also excellently located for the central local bus station (TINCEN) from which you can take frequent buses to the beaches.
The hotel itself is very dated. It's a long time since I saw a caramel brown bathroom suite! That said, the rooms were clean and the included breakfast not too bad. I guess the overall point is that you'll never be staying in floripa for the hotel or the town, it's the astonishingly beautiful beaches and nature that makes the place special.
Finally, it looks like the hotel is undertaking some major renovations on the rooms, as we were woken up by loud construction noise from the next door room. Peeking inside the open door on the way to breakfast the room was completely gutted. Seems there's new life on the way for FloPH!
