Really we love this hostel...is just infront of the beach

Good location- 4 minutes walking from the beach, overlooking the beach and right over the river. a but grungy and the private double room & bathroom were totally not what we were expecting: 10 people for one bathroom/shower closet with a plastic folding door that doesn't lock, a dead roach in the shower, and dirty floor. also, our room had broken windows and "lockers" were just cheap hooks on dresser shelves where you could put your lock around. good thing it was a safe hostel. otherwise, for the most part, staff was helpful, good breakfast for a hostel that included ham & fruits, and nice location. we personally wouldn't stay at this hostel again, but wouldn't discourage other backpackers looking for a good time in a good location not to.

Amazing - New years beach party with 6000 Brazilians all dressed in white jumping over 7 waves making 7 wishes. Free! Drinking caipirinhas and Rum in coconuts on the beach and drunken swimming at midnight in our underwear. No entry fee's, no pretentiousness, just the coolest people you will ever meet and the greatest way to start 2010. I ♥ you Backpackers!

The hostel is a great place to stay if you are looking for fun, inhouse parties and leisure, the hostel is located right next to a beautiful beach which is a very well known surfing spot. You have the possibility to rent surfing boards, and other equipment, and book some clases or trips around the island. The beach is right next to the hostel and you have a great view from the terraces to the beach and the sea.
The breakfast is good, and the rooms are clean.
However, if you are looking for some peace, a place to relax, enjoy a calm place to read or simply enjoy your stay in a couple it might not be the right place, there are always some noisy people around, which might come back drunk to the dorm in the middle of the night, and the music is allround at all times.
Also, if you prefer not to share your bathroom with 14 other people, you might prefer to go somewhere else.
Staff is friendly, (with some exceptions), and helpful and can organize trips or give some advice if you want to discover the island or do some sport.
