After backpacking for several years now this hostel was the most enjoyable hostel i've ever stayed at. The owners and staff are all super friendly, the vibe of the whole place is exactly what you want from a hostel, and the views over the beach which is right below are incredible. If you;re lucky enough to be there on one of their sunday bbq's where master chef tim cook sup a feast fit for a king make sure you dont have a big breakfast beforehand to save some room for it all. cant wait to get back there.

A friend and I stayed here in November 2009. An absolutely fantastic time. Great staff and ownership, great food, great location and most of all, fantastic vibe. I would definitely go back.

The location great, friendly staff & a great atmosphere. Stayed in the double room which was nice but shame the toilet closest to the room did not work. Otherwise a great stay.

I stayed here on a recommendation of a friend of a friend and they were spot on. The location is amazing, pretty much the last house before the canal and beach, it is very secure and the views are amazing... miles of deserted beach, forest and blue sky and lots of roof decks to enjoy it from. Barra is only a little town though, so it is very much a place to chill. Keep that in mind if you want to seriously party, shop etc. as these things are a bus ride away. It is an enchanting corner of the island though... reminiscant of and even a bit better than the Byron Bay area...

Tish who runs the hostel is a well travelled Brazillian with excellent English, and an even better sense of humour ;-) She is great, and bent over backwards to look after everyone who was there. Indeed all the staff were helpful, sociable and fun.

I stayed in a private double room, the Porno room (because of the mirrored ceiling) and that was easily the best accomodation I had in Brazil for the price.

Lastly there is always something on, organised by the hostel, so you can have a great time there without having to be too proactive. (Surf trips, BBQs, clubbing etc.) One example... I was there to watch the CL final, and we got a free beer every time our team scored. Luckily I had put my name down for Barcelona ;-)
