“Very good location and service, but a bit pricey.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 November 2011

My wife and I stayed 5 days attending a training course. Very good location at downtown, close to everything I needed, nice view from the restaurant at 16th floor, taxi service at the door and excellent wi-fi internet free. Hotel looks very old outside but it was good inside. Very pleasant staff, attention to details (the hotel even provide a rented wheelchair to my wife 5 days for free) and allowed us a very late check out (8 PM) free of charge. Meals are not exceptional, but taste good, fresh and well prepared, especially breakfast. Room service timely. Superior room (not executive) looked just remodeled with basic equipment (cable TV, refrigerator, air cond., black out courtains, desk / chair, comfortable king size bed and hair dryer. Bathroom looks old, but well maintained, nice shower. I have seen more for the same price, but if you get a good deal, go ahead, it`s good hotel for a short stay.

Room Tip: Prefer executive rooms or suites, larger than the one I get (superior). High floors (12th or higher...

“Very good deal and location, a friendly staff !”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 September 2011

Me and some work mates stayed there during 3 nigths.
The location is fine, close to rua da Praia, where you can hang out during the day and Cidade Baixa, where you can hang out during the evening.
There is a gym with good resources.
The breakfast is fine, on the 16th floor, where one has a splendid landscape and may also take some pics.
We payed R$ 166,00 for a double room, the 1007. This is a clear, clean and quiet room. It has a nice view of the city. The TV was standard, not LCD, but it was not a problem at all. This room had a split AC as well.
It is in a walking distance from Redenção and Mercado Municipal.
The free internet worked fine in my room, but in the last day it broke during the evening.
The lobby is nice, with internet, sofas, newspapers and so on.
The staff is very friendly and helpful. Even the check out being at noon, they approved me to leave the room at 14 PM, as I had some stuff to work on.

Room Tip: I guess one should avoid low floors rooms, because of the noise from the streets.

I liked this hotel, it is not cheap, but it is worth the money. The hotel is newly renewed, it is clean and well located.

Room Tip: Get a higher room to escape the street noise.

Great hotel. The hotel is under complete renew. I stayed in an executive room. I have been to several hotels in Porto Alegre and this hotel
has the best rooms. The service is also very good, the staff are very
friendly. I recommend this hotel.

“I LIKED the Everest! Would come here again!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 December 2009

So I really liked this place. It isn't the Ritz Carlton, but its location, staff, food and amenities make the Everest a great choice for any traveler who doesn't want to spend an arm and a leg on a hotel in Porto Alegre.

It was my first time in Porto Alegre, so I totally picked a hotel blindly. The first cool thing I noticed about The Everest is that it is perched up high upon a viaduct in the center of town and has very cool views of the city. I thought the location was great, right downtown, and I spent last night and today walking the city, seeing the shops and marketplaces, etc. Everything is close by!

The rooms are nice, for Brasil, and for this price range. If you're used to American hotels, then you'd think this place might be a little "old school"--the bathrooms could use some updating, brown-colored toilets, sinks, showers, etc. But other than that, pretty comfortable. They have a pretty good selection of English TV, which was nice before bed--even a handful of movie channels.

The breakfast buffet was impeccable! I've had more than my share of those crappy, "free" breakfast buffets in my travels. You know--bread, cereal, old bananas and bad eggs...but I was truly blown away at the free breakfast spread here. I ate like a king! Pão de queijo (cheese bread), pound cake, fresh fruit, scrambled eggs, and passion fruit juice is what I piled upon my table--there was much more at the buffet as well. A great breakfast, and I stuffed myself. What a departure from the norm when it comes to free breakfasts. The restaurant is on the top floor (16th) with great city views all around.

Finally, everyone on the staff here seemed really friendly and always willing to help with whatever I needed, be it directions, help with the internet, wake up calls, etc. Always a smile and a true spirit of service from everyone, from the folks at the breakfast buffet to the concierge.

Only nuisance was how loud the hotel doors are when people slam them here--woke me up a couple times. And I purchased WiFi internet for the room, or at least I was under the impression it worked in the room, but was unable to connect. (I was on the 7th floor). So I had to use my laptop in the lobby. No big whoop. Lobby is nice by the way--comfy sofas, shiny floors, big windows with lots of light, and a charming little open-area restaurent and snack bar.

All in all, if this hotel's price fits what you'd like to spend, I recommend The Everest. Great place. By the way, the women are way hot in this city too! Just thought I'd throw that in there! R Dub, out!
