I was in San Raphael Plaza Hotel last week for a conference at the hotel. It is located in downtown Porto Alegre, very busy during the day, but scary at night. The city center is ugly, the only point of interest within walking distance is the central market with good restaurants, but be careful. As for the hotel, I spent four nights at this hotel that needs updating. The plumbing and air conditioning was noisy, old furniture, very expensive as everything in Brazil lately. Check out was a nightmare with long lines in the lobby. I do not recommend, but notice that other better hotels in Porto Alegre are hard to find.
