I spent my honeymoon there for 15 days.
Simply put, the hotel is worth the money. Patricia rules it and she speaks both Spanish and English. Very professional, frendly and correct. And so she has educated her crew. No complaint at all can be done. Opposite I would say.
Among employees, Max is the man to help there, although all of them are very nice so far.
If you go there remember some things:
-Not bargaining is almost showing you are easy to steal from... be smart on that. They will know when they cannot do you a better price. Do not push them too far though... Brazilians are very easygoing people, polite, nice... if you don´t show yourself stuckup you will find friends in Pipa for sure.
-Be careful with stealing & drugs in Pipa. They do have crack there. Be careful with going to private parties and certain bars. Other than that, which happens to people looking for trouble, it nevers happens anything bad in town.
-Buses to Pipa (5 minutes walk) are free (vans with a figure of a dolphin in the front) but to go surfing to Praia Madero (the best beach around) cost 1,25 reales. Buses pass every 15 minutes.
-Surfing in Praia Madero is nice if you wake up EARLY. At 7 or eight is great. Go to Eco Surf school, which is 200 meters from the bar of the hotel up in the hill. Right close to BAr do Jegue. Ask for Luis or Roberto. Tell them Ferni greats them. They have got new longboards and speak several languages. Great people.
NOBODY can arrange you trips to the lagoons or anywhere better than them. Trust me, I know what I say. But if you want to go with another guy, as for "el Galego" at " bar at Pipa´s beach. they do "gastronomical trips" that you wont forget easily.
-The bugui trip is great with the guy at the hotel (you will meet him, do not worry. He is father of 3 children and will do enaything
-When a guy offers you to go to a restaurant: he is taking you there and earning a tip from the restaurant that will be summed up to your bill. Remember that...
Enough for today. The hotel is indeed very nice and quiet. Not the vulgar Punta Cana stuff.
Gonna love it.
