It is a pity this hotel is located in such a rundown area.

This part of town has certainly seen better days, and the hotel is surrounded by silent witnesses to those days (ruins of other hotels and hostels).

The hotel itself is comfortable and good value. To Brazilian standards it is actually very high quality. Although breakfast was varied, we didn't really enjoy any of it. Although staff is a bit clumsy, they try their best. Room service is quick and cheap.

We stayed here for three days at a modest rate, and then went to Rio for a week. When we came back from Rio, our connecting flight to Amsterdam was cancelled. The Yak Hotel was willing to offer us the same rate as before (which wasn't officially available). As we didn't know when we could get on another flight, the hotel offered us an extra extra late check-out (10 pm!) at no charge. It turned out this was just what we needed. We were very pleased with this service, especially since the airline company (ArkeFly) hadn't undertaken anything to relieve our huge inconvenience.

So, again, thank you Yak hotel!
