“Very good on weekdays”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 January 2012

The hotel is a very good quality for its price in Rio. It is clean, has a good service, the rooms are functional.
We stayed there twice, both on weekends. Once in a room facing the streetfront (most of the rooms do), and once in a room facing the sidewalk.
There is an open-air disco located near the hotel, and on weekends the sound is heavy. It is not possible to sleep on the streetfront rooms then, not even with earplugs.
The rooms on the other side are fine even on weekends.
If you get a room on the correct side, the hotel is a very good choice.

“Not what I had expected”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 January 2012

After paying more reals cos of the Revillion i found out that Ibis Hotel in the centre very disappointing. I was there to expect for few things. 1. access to the Internet so i can check e mails and flight bookings. theirs was not working. 2. Secondly i expect a decent meal in one of their restuarants but it turned out to be buffet only at 27 reals in their cafe, The area is bit rough(seedy area) in rundown Lapa area surrounded with prostitutes. It is unsafe walking there from the metro Caricoa. It also took me nearly three hours to get back to hotel after the revillion. taxi cost 45 reals to get back. 3. Thirdly Kitchen staff bit grumpy. 4. room, bed duvet bit old and bit worn out, some tears on edges...5. After checking out they charged me for breakfast that I did not order.
So Tried another Ibis hotel this time at Santos Dumont, few days later, theirs was great and much better, Internet access great and restuarant on the second floor where I finally had my decent meal and wine. the staff were so helpful. better bedding in room. Area much better and easy eaccess to domestic airport and centre. Anyone who want to stay for the revillion or the Carnival, it is best to stay at Copacablana or Ipanema so you get less hassle of getting back to the hotel and the sight of homeless tramps sleeping on streets in downtown Rio.

“Feriado 15-Nov-2011”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 November 2011

This hotel is very nice. I love it. Its location is the most. But the price is a little high for a IBIS category. In Europe the rates are between EUR 30/60. Accor should review the rates prices for Ibis in Brazil.

“A good choice”

Nothing but good to report. I arrived from an early plane and as a room was free was given access to my room before 12.00, which was very welcome. The room was very clean and comfortable. Very good value for the price. The staff were extremely pleasant and very helpful - they organised a complicated printing job for me. The breakfast and the dinner buffet had lots of fruit and salad, and if not gastronomic was pleasant. The position is good - close to many of the historic sites. Easy to get buses to Copacabana and Ipanema. Also possible to get a bus to airport - take a taxi to the domestic airport (close by) and then the bus between the airports to get to the international airport. Much cheaper than the $45 which is the official price for taxis direct to airport
