“Good value for money (at least for Rio)”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2012

We ended up without reservation and fortunately there was still room. Although quite a walk from the beach, this hotel in Copacabana lies in a very quiet family neighbourhood. The room was spacious and clean, the hotel staff friendly and helpful. After having checked out several hotels in the area, this was by far the best value for money (although in any other city it would be considered too expensive, but in Rio nothing is cheap…). Breakfast is served in the room. Nice place to stay.

“small and cute”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 December 2011

I checked into the hotel santa clara yesterday and was greeted very kindly by the reception of the hotel. He offered us many tour options while we were settling the payment. Our room was on the first floor but very clean and cute. The bathroom is small but clean and shower pressure was amazing. We have a working air conditioner and free wifi from the hotel.
Breakfast was served to our room for privacy....we got 2 big slices of papaya which is traditional brazilian food for breakfast in order to maintain good digestion. We also got 4 pieces of bread, butter, jam, coffee, milk, and 2 orange juice.
The room has a closet with a key that you can lock up all of your things while you travel around. The hotel was very quiet yet close to the action. I recommend this hotel.

“Rock hard bed but best wake up service in the world”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 November 2010

The hotel is well located and perfect if you are in Rio for business and don't want to keep seeing the same suits of your co-conference visitors everyday. As an extra the hotel makes it possible to personalize your wake up calls and the sound of that voice in the morning just gives you back the joy and energy you lost while sleeping on a wooden matras.

“The worst treatment I ever had in a Hotel”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 November 2010

I check ed in this hotel paid with my credicard, went to the room for 5 minutes where me and my partner decided to don't stay in the hotel, when we asked for our money back they just sad it is a policy from the hotel that once the receive the money they never give it back, we were completely shock with the mananger behavior, then we asked to have at least half of the money and they simply refuse it. I travel through the all world and this was the most unfriendly treatment I ever had. Don't stay i this hotel, they are not trustfull people.

“Alternative Hotel”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 October 2010

Guesthouse style format. The place is antiquated, and unfortunately not in a charming way. A dump actually. Breakfast, such as it was, served in the room. Old, noisy air conditioner. Rock hard bed and pillow. If you're looking for alternative to in front-of-the-beach, bland chain hotel this is it all right. If you select this hotel because you are looking for a bargain or you are a low-budget type, you will still think you overpaid for this hostelry. Too bad, as Zona Sul could use some properly renovated old residencies converted to boutique hotel. The Santa Clara is not this.
