The hotel is an aparthotel but the rooms are large and clean and good value for Rio. Good breakfast is included. But the location is not ideal as it is a taxi ride from anywhere. The nearest restaurant recommended by the hotel is by the Windsor hotel 40 minutes walk away. It is opposite the beach but separated by a very busy and noisy road and as I was on business being by the beach was less important than a convenient location. doing any sight seeing on the one free day that I had required an expensive guided tour as the hotel was too far from anything of interest to go independently. The conference centre Rio Centro is a 20 minute at least taxi ride away and if several people need taxis you can wait quite a while. Apart from the little kiosks and a cafe at a petrol station there is nothing within walking distance. One big plus is free wifi in the rooms. If all you want is the beach then the hotel is good value, but if you want to see Rio go somewhere more central.

My husband and I stayed here from 12/04/2009 and 12/08/2009 for our trip to Rio de Janeiro.

I must admit that it doesn't look much from the outside but the interior was a pleasant surprise. It is in a fantastic location right in front of the less touristy beach. There's also a 24-hour kiosk across. The breakfast was simple yet sufficient and delicious. The staff was very cheerful, helpful and friendly. The hotel was also very near to the residence of our local tour guide so that was a great plus. There is also a shopping mall nearby. If you like a more tranquil vacation, I recommend that you stay here. But make sure that you have someone to drive you around to the tourist spots because they are a bit far.

The hotel itself is based in Barra - and this can be anything from an hour or a two hour taxi ride from downtown Rio. Distance itself is around 17km but the traffic all over Rio is very heavy - especially during rush hour.
Based on the beachfront. the hotel is separated from the beach by a main road which has constant 24 hour traffic - so do remember your earplugs. That being said, the hotel itself is clean, well maintained and offers good value for money. The rooms are based on mini-apartments and offer a kitchen area (lots of local food delivery companies), a seating area, bed and decent bathroom with a large and powerful shower. Room service was fast and efficient but the menu was a little limited and the buffet breakfast offered a good variety of options. Staff were helpful and friendly and the cleaning crew did a great job daily.

Amazing position, in front of the beach. Excellent for location (closed to Barra downtown and other commercial center). large room, confortable but not so new (related to price level).
