“LOVED IT”

The hotel was great...
We got big clean rooms with internet and frigobar with great goodies.
Close to the beach, walking distance to copacabana palace and other restaurants and bars
Friendly staff, who made our stay very warm besides the weather ..
The breakfast buffet was absolutely to die for ... great variety and very tasteful!
would definitely stay there again!

“Great location”

The hotel is nothing too fancy but has many positive features: Very close to the beach, free internet, good breakfast, large rooms and Free parking! If you have ever tried to find a parking spot in Rio near Copacabana you can appreciate this feature very much. We received a free welcome drink (that was a surprise) and the staff was very helpful. We felt save and enjoyed our short stay.

“Far too expensive and very noisy”

Hotel in an excellent location, very close to the beach, bars, restaurants and public transportation and also situated in a relatively safe area. Free fast and stable internet access on the rooms with your own laptop. Very good breakfast. These are the positive aspects.

Negative:

The good location is the reasons for its overpriced room rates. You can find a lot of hotels in other areas like Botafogo or Flamengo with similar services and facilities for half of the price!

Noisy rooms due to heavy traffic noises entering from Rua Princesa Isabel. The interior rooms are a bit less noisy but have no view at all. Never ever take a standard room, because these are left and right of the elevators.

All rooms are very basic. King size beds are fakes, they are just two single beds joined together. Air-conditioning appliances are old and very noisy ( no split air-cons). Standard rooms are tiny, superior rooms a bit larger. TV appliances are mounted to the ceiling, so watching TV breaks your neck.

Receptionists are rude and arrogant and tend to treat every single male like a sex tourist. During my stay I made a language interchange with a Brazilian women twice a week and wanted to meet in my hotel for our classes. But female visitors are automatically treated like prostitutes. The hotel policy doesn't allow to have visitors on the room, regardless of their gender. If you bring somebody up to your room you will have to register and pay for a second person. We found this policy very strange and in somehow discriminating.

I won't stay there again.

“Will stay there again!”

We went to Rio and spent 4 nights at this hotel. We thought the price per night was really good, if you count the fact that we were 1 block from the beach (Copacabana) and 5 blocks from the Copacabana Palace (the most expensive/luxurious hotel in Rio) .... we had room 1303 which was awesome! It was gigantic! We had a beautiful view, even though there was a building kinda in front of us, but hey, I thought we wouldnt be able to see the ocean at all from the hotel! Staff was great, but not really good about giving tips about places to eat, they thought we had a lot of money and we were actually on a really tight budget! But oh well.... other than that, we loved it and will stay there again in the future! :)

“Nothing fancy, but much to recommend it”

I stayed here for 5 days while attending a conference in Rio. The rooms are large and functional, if not luxurious. Fridge in the room is much appreciated. Free internet (wired - consider bringing an ethernet cable along) generally works very well. A/C and bathroom are just fine. From my 8th floor balcony I could just about see Copacabana Beach, but one really shouldn't expect views here. It's a 1-minute walk to the beach in any case, so no problems there. Breakfast is plentiful, as others have reported, though nothing to write home about. Lobby is clean, staff very helpful, one feels safe in the hotel. Front desk can give a key to the (small) in-room safe. Not a romantic destination hotel, but perfectly reasonable for a stay in Rio.
