“DONT STAY HERE!!!!!!”

I'm an American and I usually dont write reviews on my hotel stays despite the fact that Im a avid traveler, but this review I felt compelled write. I went with a friend the first week of March to the Carnaval in Rio, and as you might expect the hotels on ipanema beach would be expensive because of the festivities. I payed approximately 400 Reas a night to stay in this dump. I arrived at the hotel and from the outside it looked like a reasonable property. I walked in with all my bags in tow and the Bellman made no attempt to help me get my luggage up the steps. (I should have known then) Next I checked in, which seemed harmless enough, but it turned out that although they had been advertising a gym online, they no longer had a gym which was a problem for me because I workout regularly and never would have booked there if I had know there wasn't a gym. The worst part of the experience was my room, which was small, old, and dilapidated. The beds were two small twins bed which were essentially connected they were so close. There was a large crack running down the wall behind the TV. The furniture and decor was plain to say the least, it was worst than a Super 8 or Ramada Inn. This was suppose to be a 3 to 4 star hotel. The beds were uncomfortable and the mirror in the bathroom had something all over it that couldn't be wiped off, (I have pictures). There was a yellow high school lunch tray on the dresser with what appeared to be 5 yr old chips and cashews. No prices were attached and my initial impression was that this was complimentary, but no it was for sell. The only thing decent about my stay here was the breakfast which was nicely done and displayed every morning except during the weekend. The location of the hotel is not bad, but i would rather travel 15 miles a day to the beach than stay in this "hotel" I can not say it more sternly, DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!!

“Great Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2011

My wife and I stayed at the Everest Park Hotel at the end of November 2010. The rooms were clean and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The location is great especially for the price. It is less than a 2 minute walk to Ipanema beach and about a 5 minute walk to some of the best restaurants in Rio. The only downside is there is no restaurant at the hotel but the complementary breakfast is served around the corner at their sister hotel. In our opinion it wasn't a big deal as the pros definitely outweigh the cons. We would definitely stay here again, and highly recommend this hotel, for people looking for a clean, safe hotel in the heart of Ipanema.

“Old hotel in ok ipanema location.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 December 2010

The hotel is really in need of modernization, especially the bathrooms. It's right behind Caesar Park Hotel and almost the same price the weekend we stayed. Very average.

“No, no, no. Never again”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 November 2010

The location is very good: close to the beach and to the bars and fine restaurants in the area. The room is terrible! Needs renovation at all! Old carpet, old furniture, old bathroom, terrible window, terrible ar-conditioning.... The breakfast is outside the Hotel, in fact at the EVEREST RIO, the brother-hotel thats benn refurbished and is very, very better than this one - one block away....
Stay away from this one and try to book at Everest Rio.

“Good location.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 August 2010

The rooms are older, but this hotel was actually fine. Location is important to me in Rio for safety reasons, and the hotel is in a good spot in Ipanema. It's only one block to the beach, and you're close to good shopping and restaurants. The staff here were awesome. For breakfast, I had to walk a block to their other hotel, which had an amazing view from the restaurant on the top floor. Breakfast food was good, nothing great. Last time in Rio I stayed at the Royal Rio in Copacabana, which had nicer rooms but the location wasn't nearly as good and safe. I'd stay at Everest Park Hotel again, or check prices at their sister hotel around the corner.
