Copacabana Mar is right in the heart of Copacabana and is very clean. The personnel are knowledgeable and helpful.

The hotel itself is nothing to fancy, but it does have a very nice small pool and fantastic shower pressure with endless hot water. Book in advance online and get a good rate, well bellow walk in prices.

It's not a fancy hotel but it has all those three things all travellers want: good price, goode location and good service.

The rooms are clean and they have no smell (like other hotels in Rio). The breakfast is simple and is always the same, but covers the "basics" (fruits, bread and some other things). The location is fantastic. It's two blocks from the copacana beach, behind the famous (and safe area) Copacana Palace and also two blocks from the metro station of Arcoverde, which connects you to the city centre and Ipanema.

The hotel is located 2 blocks back from Copacabana beach, in a reasonably quiet neighbourhood, though the internal rooms face into a courtyard surrounded on all sides by other multi-storey buildings, which can cause some noise if you are unlucky.

The bedroom was perfectly adequate with a comfortable, though not large, double bed, a good flatscreen TV, bar fridge, slightly noisy airconditioner, hair dryer and internet connection (though we didn´t have a laptop to test it).

Breakfast was standard pleasant, with scrambled eggs and a form of sausage and bacon, as well as a good buffet with a range of fruit, cakes and cereals. Staff were helpful but communication was limited.

The Reception staff were pleasant and even offered to organise for us to go to a local football match if we were interested. English ability amongst staff was patchy.

Don´t be taken in by the pictures of the gym nor swiming pool, they are not large and the gym contains only 3 pieces of equipment.

Nothing special for the prices they have.
Internet doesn´t work. After waiting for 5 hours, telling us "It will work", they decided to give us another room, but it didn´t work neither. At the end we went to an Internet cafe.
Nowadays I can´t consider a Hotel without internet.
