The positives:
The hotel is in a great location, 2 blocks from the Ipanema Beach, many coffee houses, bakeries nearby, 2 blocks from the Hippie Fair etc. The Hotel staff are extremely accommodating and friendly, there is a great breakfast that serves from 6:30 to 11, so one can make it a lunch too=fruit, bread, cheeses, meat etc and every day there is a different selection of cakes/pastries. Hotel is very clean and well maintained. We asked for a room that faced the back and it was quiet with a view of Corcovado.
The negatives:
I was there with my elderly mother, there are 6 steps from the lobby to the elevator. We had asked for two single beds and they were quite small, a double would have been more comfortable. The first room we had the toilet kept making noise so we were switched to another one similar. The front desk staff is not that friendly and they do not know much English-do not ask them for city information better to go to the visitor kiosks that are set up all around Rio, the hotel guests are predominantly Brazilian and it gets very busy on the weekends.
