“Great value safe place and helpful staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 January 2012

I chose this hotel based on the good reviews I read on this site. I am quite pleased with my decision mainly because I forgot to lock my safe one day and everything was still there after cleaning staff was in plus maintenance staff fixed a curtain. Its a little walk to the beach but I compromised this for safety, price and a good review. I checked out some of the other hotels that where on the beach but each one had bad reviews on here for robbery, dirty rooms, bad staff, etc. The breakfast was great (free) and menu prices reasonable. A turkey sandwich was 9 reals and was surprisingly good. The grocery story is two blocks so u can stock the fridge if you desire to save money. If your a 4 star person you may not like this hotel but for the value and safety it was a great choice for me

“Great value”

We stayed at the Best Western Rio Copa in October 2011 and found it to be a very good value, as Rio can be quite expensive. The room was clean, the location was good - just a 5 min. walk to Copacabana beach and about 5-10 min. walk to get to restaurants. It is a bit of a walk to Ipanema Beach (probably 45 min.) and you really can't walk to some of the other attractions (Corcovado, Sugerloaf), but you can get a taxi pretty easily (and Rio is such a big city that it's pretty much impossible to be near everything). The only slight negative is that Av Princesa Isabela is a fairly busy road (but you can't hear it from the rooms). Overall we were very happy with our stay at the BW Rio Copa and would definitely consider it again if we found ourselves in Rio.

“A nice place to stay in Rio de Janeiro”

We visit Rio Copa for third time since 2008. Why? Because it's a nice place and near to everything in the lovely city Rio de Janeiro. They serve us a very fine breakfast with all you can wish.
The staff is extraordinary polite and nice to us. Some of them even reconaise us from our last stay and welcome us with a huge smile. We like that. The rooms is big and very clean, so is the bathroom. Nice place to stay and good value. We wanted to be back some time.

“Good value for proximity to Copa beach”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 December 2011

Pros:
-Reasonably priced in mid range
-5 mins walk to Copa beach and main shopping street
-10 mins walk to Copa area's best shopping mall, Rio Sul
-Friendly and helpful staff, Reception always had an English speaker
-Efficient aircon although noisy
-Good bathroom with great shower
-Free unlimited wi-fi in room (CNN, Bloomberg, 2 movie, 1 sitcom)
-Good free breakfast
-24hr room service
-5 English TV channels

Cons:
-Loud traffic noise in street-facing room (5th floor)
-No airport transfers
-No lock on safe unless you pay
-Very dirty windows

All in all, perfectly adequate for my one-week stay. The odd housekeeping lapse quickly remedied.

“Top location”

Don't listen to other negative reviews about the location. It is perfect for walking to copacobana beach & is perfectly safe. If getting a taxi to ipanema or Leblon you need to cross over the road to avoid a one way tunnel that will cost more. If going to sugarloaf or Christ the redeemer you can get a taxi from outside the hotel. Room was very spacious, clean & with a safe. Breakfast was great with lots of options including sausages & eggs. Coffee & milk seemed to run out very early & we never sat at a table that was properly laid, always a knife, fork, cup etc missing but these are small things. Keila on the front desk was great but Andreas made a number of errors for tours we booked (noted down incorrect credit card number which nearly meant we could not attend the football) without apology. The staff also seem to have no handover between shifts so we were having to explain stuff continually. Besides this we'd go back but get Keila to help you out because she was great.
