We selected this hotel for the location and the price and were very pleased!! The service is exceptional as is the location. It's only a 5 minute walk to the beach and there are lots of restaurants and bars around. We loved the fact that the hotel was on a residential street and just a block away from a busy street.
The breakfast buffet is very elaborate with something for everyone - the fruit selection was amazing! The room service menu is very limited and wasn't my favorite, but there were plenty of restaurants around to suit our taste buds.
There are a few things to consider: the walls are paper thin so if people are in the hallway talking, you will hear it. There is also a service telephone in the hallway that rings very loud and you can hear it in the room and you could hear the hairdryer down 2 levels. We weren't bothered by any of this as it wasn't very intruding.
Overall, you get very good value for your money and if you have a problem, the staff will correct it quickly. I don't understand why this hotel has such low reviews. The prices in Rio are very expensive, so this is a very affordable hotel (and we were here for Carnival). It may not be a US 3 star hotel, but then again.... we're not in the US and every country has its own star system.
