Americans, those with more dollars, less time and even less inclination to use their grey cells end up the JW Marriott. Regrettably, I fell into that category.
For starters, if you're there for business, note that the rooms are not WiFi enabled. They do have a cable connection but it isn't of any use if your computer does not have a port for the cable as was the case with my AirMac. Secondly, while the alleged paid upgrade to an "executive" room gives access to the 9th floor executive floor where there is WiFi you will find yourself in a room with dark tinted windows meant to protect against the eastern sun. At night, it has the effect of a disco or worse a room for gangsters.
The staff are generally helpful but barely after checking in I was literally accosted by a rep from H Stern who shoved a package of supposed discounts including a "free" car ride to their factory to check out their gemstones. The lobby bar at the 1st floor is decent but with only 3 tables next to the windows overlooking Copa beach. When I asked the waiter for one of those tables he responded it was "reserved" I sat further inside next to the "reserved" table by the window for over an hour eating and no one showed up. When I pointed that out to the bar manager he apologized claiming that someone had reserved it and did not show up - I'd sooner believe in the tooth fairy.
The fitness center is on the top floor with nothing really to write home about. Again with tinted glasses and 2 treadmills along with sundry other equipment. The pool, recessed in the rear area of the roof, has no views of the beach.
The Lobby of the hotel too has a tired look and needs a major renovation.
Incidentally, I see that management does not respond to TA reviews, at least in the English section.
