Better for families.
Hotel is located just between ipabena and copacabana, 5 min walk from main shopping st, metro and vivid bars.

The location is very good in that you are walking distance from both Ipanema and Copacabana beach. There a quite a few options for eating out very close to the hotel.
The two room apartment was ok. The kitchenette had two glasses, no plates and no crockery which was a bit strange. The bathroom was fine and the shower was good.
There was no remote control for the TV in the bedroom.
The apartment had a "tired" feel to it.
The lifts took a long time, especially when one of them was broken for 2 days.
The staff were ok, though not excessively friendly/helpful.

The hotel is quite correct for the price if you have a family. We had a small apartement for four people on December 2010. On the good sides the location is great, 5 minutes by walking to ipanema beach, surely the best place for a tourist in Rio. The surroundings is safe and convenient, lots of shops near by. On the bad side the staff is quite average and not helpful at all. Plus the rooms are still very average, the bathrooms for example were dirty.
I would say go for it if you are with your family on budget and you don't want to spend too much money on a hotel near the beach in Rio.

Very good location, however staff could ber more forthcoming. As we booked an apartment with a kitchenette, we expected to find at least a minimum like glasses, plates or knifes. Only after asking few times we were provided some basics. Otherwise all was fine.
