Mercure Arpoador is a nice hotel on a street that connects Ipanema beach and Copacabana. It is a short walk (<5 mins.) to either. The hotel is on a busy street in a safe neighborhood. There are several good restaurants in walking distance and one is next door to hotel. Hotel is clean and the mini-apartments are nice. Staff is very nice and attentive. This is a good business hotel, but I would also consider staying here for leisure if the rate was good. My only complaint with the hotel is they really do not have restaurant, except the one that is open for breakfast, which is OK. After that you either get room service or need to go out. However, the rooms have a kitchenette if you care to use it (I don't).

stayed in this hotel for one night in 31 jan 2012, room was a suite with a double bed and a pull our sofa bed, kitchen and lounge. room was clean and comfortable. location was great, a 2 minute walk to both the copacabana beach and ipanema beach.

We had a very pleasant stay in Rio and at Mercure Ap. The hotel is located close to Ipanema and Copacabana which was perfect! The ordinary beds were good but the extra beds could be better. The staff was very friendly and helpful but surprisingly not so knowledgeable about for ex buses to wellknown places in the city. But I would certainly come back again.

I have been only once in this hotel: the location is perfect and allows to reach almost every place between Copacabana, Ipanema and Leblon by feet.
The rooms are little apartments, with an American kitchen and a living room, a confortable bathroom (with shower) and a bedroom.
Forniture: excellent.
The breakfast is excellent (may be the air conditioning is a bit too high inside the breakfast room).
Pity for the services & facilities: not that good. But the location and the amenity of the structure more than compensate.
