just spent 5 blissful days at pousada guarana and still feel the urge to go back there immediately. why keep traveling if you´ve found the perfect place?
no, but seriously, jimena and david couldn´t be better host in any way. i have never felt more welcome and more missed when i left anywhere.
breakfast is heavenly, so is the whole place. there is a pool, there are books and boardgames, there are people to talk to and to help you with whatever you might need.
well, one thing maybe, you might wanna stay away if plastic chairs and plastic toast is what you love, but if you don´t: go there!!

You will be quickly overwhelmed when searching for pousadas by the number available. To differentiate themselves from the herd, David and crew really have to offer something special. They do. David answered the phone on first contact and helped us with ton of great information. Gustavo, one of the pousada employees, David, and his wife were all very knowledgeable about the area including where I was coming from in São Paulo. To help make my trip more enjoyable and easier to reach them, he provided us with detailed directions and various interesting places to visit along the way.
They were very interested in the animal community which was a huge plus for me as I'm a big animal lover. Jimena greeted us in the morning and David was ready to chat over coffee giving us tips for the day and for the ride back (we even got a custom drawn map with various places to stop).
The room was very comfortable. The people were all very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was sufficient and we felt secure...this was a very nice one night Paraty experience.

Everything has been written about this place already. Lovely rooms, great location and fantastic breakfast. It is a good 30 min walk from town, but they have bicycles you can borrow - so this really isn't a problem. The hosts David and Jimena are lovely, and David in particular is so good at helping you organise your day and any trips you want to do.

Paraty has many B&B and hotels, but Guarana was the best choice for us. The owners are so kind and friendly, and the place is beautiful, clean, organized, and has some very cute animals. The employees are so friendly and helpful, the breakfast was AMAZING and they were sincerely happy to prepare/buy vegan food for us. The hotel is close enough to downtown that biking there is a cool ride (and the owners let guests borrow one of their many bikes). We will be back soon.
